Pretty soon he'll move up to assitant manager, then the big bucks will start rolling in.

In other words, he went to school in Princeton, not at Princeton.

I think the TPM editor is being extremely generous when he says Brat didn't intend to deceive. Otherwise, Brat's statement that he stood up to the intellectual elite has no meaning. He meant to convey, without being specific, that he went toe-to-toe with the liberal eggheads. He didn't mean to say that he held firmly against the conservative Christian seminary.

Wow, Republicans voted for an idiot. This is a shocker.

A member of the Tea Party, a group who regularly throw idiotic selfish tantrums like a spoiled child, who is named Brat.

Sometimes the Universe has a sense of humor.

yeah seriously, how could you possibly come to that conclusion, is the dude afraid of being part of the liberal media conspiracy or something?

Well all those smart kids hurt their feelings growing up, with their good grades and ability to form abstract concepts and understand the universe around them.

Why wouldn't a Republican lash out?

I think it's more "Even with the deception, so what? Did anyone think he'd say otherwise?"

The fact that he had to stand on that liberal institution's cachet to make his point about standing up to the liberals - that he literally had to invent an enemy to burnish his street cred - is the more troubling thing.

Yep. He even turned down a football scholarship at the University of Phoenix, which would have easily won him the Heismorn Trophy..

THIS. I'm getting sick of articles that lead in with the main subject for a paragraph or two, then basically say, "but before I get to the point, here's a metric farkton of background info (read: filler) that you probably don't care about."

I too am totally cool with politicians lying about their schooling to hoodwink the masses into believing they are something other than themselves.

I went to Harvard.

I mean it's a street in my city, but I went there.

OLD joke (like, Bart Giamatti might have rolled his eyes at this one as a young turk):

Guy walks into an office looking for a job. He's got lots of experience, solid schooling, and good references, but there's a 7-year gap between his last gig and today. The interviewer asks "Where were you over the last 7 years?"
"Yale."
"Yale?! I know a few people who were there over the last 7 years - students and teachers. What did you say your name was?"
"Yohn Yohnson."

Indeed.

Only in America do you have a large swath of people vilifying intelligence.

We are truly doomed.

Inventing enemies is the Republican way - you have to have some sort of boogeyman to rail against.

Where's that list of known enemies of the sacred deRp?

street smarts IMO is knowing to spot scams or cons or dangerous situations that occur "on the streets".. like in NY if you call a moving company and  some Russian dudes show up they are going to hold your shiat for ransom once it is on the truck.
