Yeah, because Benghazi is really the thing that is going to tank Clinton's chances. But even granting your premise, Warren isn't running, but could if she so chose, people aren't counting out Booker, Martin O'Malley is running, and Joe Biden could decide to take a crack at it.

The State Department press release, issued in her name, on Sept. 11, 2012 at 10:07 p.m. tied the death of Foreign Service officer Sean Smith to the video.

And the CIA agreed with this assessment. So we're good? We're good. Topic closed. I said good day.

The attacks themselves may have had other motivations beyond the video, but the video was definitely a factor.

No.  The Benghazi attack was completely unrelated to the video protests.  It was another animal altogether.  The only connection is that it took place the same day as the other protests.  Fog of war and all that is not present anymore.  The investigation reports I'm aware of don't link it to the video at all.  In fact, it wasn't considered a mob, but a rebel (terrorist?) group making a military raid. Not a bunch of civilians storming a fence.

But I haven't read much on it for months.  Maybe its back to being linked to the video.

Clinton wrote. "Seeing them there, knowing they would grow up without their fathers, was almost more than I could bear."But she did not mention her comments to the father of Ty Woods.Asked about the book, Charles Woods reiterated his claim that rather than offering comforting words, Clinton told him: "We are going to have the person responsible for the video arrested" -- which he says he found odd given the event's tone.

She lied to his face while standing next to his son's casket.  That's cold.

True, but at 10:07 p.m. on 9/11/12, that fog was very much in place.

According to the Senate Select Committee's Official Reports on the attacks:

Individuals affiliated with terrorist groups, including AQIM, Ansar alSharia, 134 AQAP, and the Mohammad Jamal Network, participated in the September 11, 2012, attacks. Intelligence suggests that the attack was not a highly coordinated plot, but was opportunistic; however, well-armed attackers easily overwhelmed the Libyan security guards and the five U.S. Diplomatic Security agents present at the Temporary Mission Facility. It remains unclear if any group or person exercised overall command and control of the attacks or whether extremist group leaders directed their members to participate. Some intelligence suggests the attacks were likely put together in short order, following that day's violent protests in Cairo against an inflammatory video, suggesting that these and other terrorist groups could conduct similar attacks with little advance warning.

As of right now, the official account is that the videos provided a means for starting protests by various terrorist groups, and those groups used the video as an opportunity to stage an attack.

That's a WaPo blogger drawing some pretty strained conclusions based on that interview. Borderline hysterical, I'd say.

Confusing an (in this case, incorrect) assertion of fact for a strategy is something republicans do, because they lie through their teeth freely, without regard for what kind of idea they're trying to express.

It's too bad that angry mobs don't wear tee shirts with a slogan or something to identify why they are attacking our embassy.  When every one is yelling allu akbar, it just doesn't distinguish your angry mob's purpose.  I don't think anyone paused during the firefight to ask the mob what their mindset was behind the attack.

Stevens:  Are you guys angry about the video?

Mob:  Video?  What video?  We are just angry mob.

Clinton made a call based on what was happening elsewhere in the world that day based on the best available information.  It turned out to be incorrect.  In her words "what difference does it make?"

This is easy to say in hindsight.

But unless you want to completely discard the concept of "the Arab street", and you're looking for explanations as to why a seemingly violent protest happened on the same day as a ton of other protests in the Middle East, you don't default to "unrelated".

THIS! They got the reason for the attack wrong and change it a week later.

It is completely amazing to me how loyal people are to Hillary and Obama. They knowingly lied for weeks to cover up their errors before the election. Everyone knows it, it is as obvious as anything can be and yet fark completely gives Hillary a pass and even makes fun of people asking questions. It was a CYA operation from within 8 hours of the attack. They knew the truth and they willingly and knowingly lied about it for weeks. Yet people are not only giving them a free pass but are being damn smug and disrespectful about it. Incredible.

Isn't anyone getting tired of all these Christianofascist terrorist attacks on the US?  Has anyone noticed how many Christian madrasas are being built in their very own neighborhoods?  Those places are just training grounds for Christian terrorists like Timothy McVeigh and all of the others.

I would like all of the talk radio people and politicians who do not immediately say that these attacks are all caused by a Christian Third Reich to be investigated.

The US would be a much better place if you farkwads and the press held Obama and Hillary to even one tenth the standard you held Bush. The big difference is you believe that deep down Obama and Hillary are good people with simply minor defects and Bush and Co were evil through and through from the get go. What if that belief is wrong? Why not start holding some Dem feet to the fire and lets find out.
