I've got a nice workplace.  I simply said that I'm leaving early tomorrow and I'm taking 26 June off.  Everyone knows the schedule.  We simply cover for you, no problem.

/co-worker is taking all day off tomorrow
//he is cheering for Brazil

Note? Shiat. I just do what the pro players do. I go to work and fall down, grabbing my knee as I scream in pain.

That works in most countries, but sadly what about America, home of the lack of vacation days?

I have a 2 hour-ish presentation right at kickoff time of tomorrow's Brazil-Croatia opener, goddammitsomuch.

Outside of that, I usually don't even have to pretend to be discrete about streaming a game on my second monitor at work, so I should be able watch some games w/o burning sick/vaca days.

Perhaps I'm not the best person to show sympathy. I have about 5 weeks of vacation piled up. Great vacation time plan! Still don't get paid enough to actually go anywhere.

Hey, staycations are fantastic. I'll burn at least half of whatever vaca time I have over the next three months just to take advantage of the "3-4 month window where Seattle is farking amazing to be outside in".

/now, the rest of the year can be different story...

And I just realized I typed "discrete" instead of "discreet" upthread. Yay me.

Ah, the other side of the good vacation for lower salary trade off. Atleast for the next month it'll pay off as long as you can afford booze, chips, dip, and wings to just sit around all day and watching the games. And if you can't afford it, host and let everyone else bring the booze, chips, dip, and wings while you sit around all day watching the games.

Much like in soccer, the US finishes near the bottom in this one.

Simple. One of my co-workers and I have informed the rest of the office crowd that the break room TV is ours starting at 3 PM tomorrow through at least the end of group play on the 26th.

They might disagree with me, but she'll cut a guy.

Wait, employers in the UK require a note from your doctor if you call out sick?  Adults in the UK have to do this?

The only problem is that they are all signed by Epstein's mom.

Finally, a Chinese knock-off product that won't actually give you cancer. It just *says* you have cancer.

After 2 or 3 days off, yes.

Ugh, that is depressing. I wish I could sell off my vacation time to people with shiatty vacation time plans. Go! Be free! Watch some soccer!

I just visited Seattle in April! Not a cloud in the sky all weekend. I have no idea what you all are complaining about. It was perfection the entire time.
