Actually, the article is really saying that the problem is as much based on their behavior as it is based on your behavior. As in, if you participate in the forwarding or dissemination of this sort of stuff, you are just as culpable as them. But we all know that you have good reasons, of course, and when you submit the latest bit of Trutherism or Belieberocity or wacky Kardashian update, it's because of that, not this.

I never attacked them, only the article they shared, and they got so very, very upset about it

Like this author I had a truly "normal" FB friend who started posting the post-Sandy Hook garbage that the kids weren't real and it never happened. I was astounded and asked if he really believed it had been faked and his response was similar "I don't know, but I think we need to keep asking questions because it doesn't add up."  Sorry, the fact that one parent on TV didn't cry does not mean his child wasn't murdered and someone an entire town decided to fake a massacre and keep quiet about it.

Also, the easiest way to disprove these is the following question: If the government was willing to murder 3000 civilians on 9/11, why wouldn't they also murder the one guy on the internet who has supposedly outed them? Or, if the government is so evil to fake a massacre of all those kids, why wouldn't they just drug some nutjob psychopath and convince him to shoot up the school himself?

//Favorite one is "The TV announced WTC7 collapse minutes before it happened! They were clearly reading from a script!"  <-- If you were going to intentionally implode three buildings in Manhattan, why would you even need a script for the news to read? They would be there reporting it live anyway... and would involve a whole lot less risk.

I had someone ask me about chemtrails, one on one, at my son's baseball game last night.  First time I've ever really talked to the guy.  Tells me his life story, and when we see an airplane that is distracting the boys, he asks really sheepishly if I'd heard about chemicals in plane trails.

I told him they are just condensation, really.  It's a simple but interesting phenomenon, but no, the government is not raining mind control on us.

Thankfully, he appears to be a decent skeptic.

I have a family member who posts nothing but anti-GMO and anti-vaxx bullshiat. If you make the mistake of engaging with him on the subject he will bury you with links to "studies" from "scientific journals", literally hundreds of pages of complete bunk pseudoscience. If you still attempt a discussion, your position is dismissed and marginalized because you didn't read and understand ALL of the studies in the links. If you link to something that disproves or debunks his position it's dismissed as a hit piece or is proof of an even larger conspiracy. There's no talking to people like this. They take polite disregard as acceptance so I've evolved my response from "agree to disagree" to open hostility if and when something I post sparks the need for him to "educate" me.

They hate being wrong. They can't be wrong. They're right dammit because they did the research! They're too smart to fall for quackery. Also, in the case of anti-vaxxers, they can't be wrong because admitting such would mean admitting that they've ben putting their childrens' lives at risk for the sake of a little attention whoring.

Yep. Had a friend recently who solicited advice about alternative vaccine schedules, but requested that nobody start "vaccine wars" on her post. I linked a few citations about the lack of evidence that alternative schedules help in any way, and may increase risks. That was apparently "war" enough to get my comment deleted.

Except food poisoning is real, and cut vegetables tend to have less natural defenses(outer layers tend to be less digestible and have more anti-bacterial toxins) against bacterial growth.  Except for overstating the case, there's nothing wrong with the assertions here.

I mean, it's not raw meat, that relied on an active immune system in life, and will get really dangerous really quickly, but there's only hyperbole as a problem here.

See, this is an example of something that was done,(and yes, I remember reading about these trials) being conflated with something far worse, and to me is actually evidence of how hard it is to keep a big secret program secret.

Bits and pieces had leaked out over the years, so while I would not be surprised if the military had redone an experiment or two after 9/11 or had done their own dispersion experiments in the US, I don't believe every single plane flying through the sky is spraying chemical agents over the world today.

And here we have the worm of doubt attempting to be planted.

While impossible to prove, I would wager that right now, there are no planes covertly spraying something as an experiment on the US population. By the by, assholes in helicopters are not the government.

That said, the offer is not valid for cropdusters, herbicide spraying helicopters, fire retardant planes, and cloud seeders.

This isn't just vaccines. I've seen this from pretty much any subject that has groups dedicated to spreading misinformation.

I know one guy who was YEC for the first couple years I knew him. As he now tells it, his tipping point came when he challenges an "evolutionist" on why no one had ever found the "missing link." They showed him an image with a dozen+ skulls lined up going from clearly non-human to modern human and he did a double take because it blatantly contradicted what he'd been taught in school (which makes me sad).

He went off and did a bunch of reading at that point and currently resides somewhere in the range of "angry atheist."

How we got here...

MindWar

In 1980 an obscure internal U.S. Army concept paper, "From PSYOP to MindWar", accidentally became public. Though only a brief, theoretical speculation, it exploded into the focus of alarmist rumors and debates for the next three decades. Is the government involved in invasion of the mind beyond the blundering, haphazard legacy of the infamous MKULTRA experiments? Even more unsettling, do such efforts extend beyond conventional scientific research to dark and arcane arts whose very existence is the stuff of legend? The answers are here, in this book by one of that 1980 paper's co-authors, Lt. Colonel Michael Aquino. Originally intended for the eyes of government policymakers alone, it is now openly available. Ironically _MindWar_ is unclassified only because a level high enough to embrace it has never been anticipated or even conceptualized.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight, because top neurological researchers are just barely beginning to develop a proper model of the mind, but the government somehow exceeded their collective understanding with a few chemicals that can be dispersed by plane with easily predicted main effects and no major side effects, and wouldn't be discovered by routine medical examination ever.

I'll believe in mind control when schizophrenics or sociopaths are treatable.

Presliced onions tend to be treated to prevent decay.

In the restaurant where I work, we slice up a bunch of onions every 2 to 3 days, and keep them in a bucket in the walk-in cooler.  They are just fine after 2 to 3 days.  They are not treated in any way, other than the "throw them in the bucket" treatment.

It's just gotten to the point that being right, or even reasonable, is no longer of short-term benefit.

No short-term benefit (or short-term penalty for being wrong)?  No corrective action, and no change.

In short, knowledge is less of a positive, and ignorance is no longer as painful.

There's apparently a whole documentary on Netflix about Chemtrails. I think it's called "Why are they spraying?" or something like that. I haven't had the gumption to sit through anything so ridiculously stupid, so I can't say how good it is, but I find it amazing how adamant the chemtrail believers are, and how quick they are to insult people who try to correct their wonky science.

Again, I would wager that while these things did happen, the general "all the contrails are poisoning us with government experiments" paranoia of the average chemtrail believer is 100% bullshiat, and you should seek help if you believe every plane is spraying some sort of clandestine chemical agent (jet fuel exhaust being a known result of burning jet fuel in a jet engine).   And I know I won't convince any chemtrail believers because they know the "truth" and they won't be convinced by any evidence.

I'd be more worried about drift from a farmer spraying his fields with RoundUp or some other herbicide in a 20-30mph wind than from something 20,000-30,000 ft in the air.

Mostly because such a farmer took out a good portion of my father's garlic crop one year, and it still only affected things about 1/4 mile downwind.

Intentional misdirection and alluding to completely unrelated events does not an argument dispelling the utter woo and complete idiocy behind "chemtrails" make.

Also, none of those operations violated the laws of physics, which is what the proponents of chemtrails want you to believe is happening (otherwise their inane explanations for what's going on fails).

So since cloud seeding is possible, extra weight on an aircraft is a negligible factor?

You think the possibility of cloud seeding changes the basic laws of aerodynamics so extra weigh doesn't matter when flying?

You think the possibility of cloud seeding changes the basic laws of aerodynamics so extra weigh doesn't matter when flying?

Are you really this dumb?

So you think cloud seeding is done by having pilots "seed" the clouds with their hopes and dreams?

Maybe that last question is for yourself?

s2s2s2: liam76: s2s2s2: liam76: s2s2s2: liam76: In which one did the conspiracy involve thousands of pilots and Maintanence personnel to lie about their direct involvement?

LOL. Because pilots and maintenance personnel are always FULLY briefed on every detail of the produce of their work. Love that one.

You don't need to be fully briefed to know you are taking off with a couple hundred extra pounds and, equipment to dump it in flight.

/two new names ontot he "chemtrail moron list" it has been a while since I added to that one.

No, I think they fly with lots of fluid and a means to spray it.

Nowhere did I indicaite that spraying fluid in air was hard to do.

I pointed out that pilots know if they are flying around with hundreds of extra pounds in fluids, and they know if they are flying around with equipment to spray said fluid, if they didn't they couldn't properly judge how much fuel they would need, how much fuel they are going to burn at set speed, can't do a proper weigh and balance, etc.

After I did that you said extra weigh was "negligible" just because cloud seeding was possble. So you are either too stupid to know that cloud seeding doesn't change the basic laws of aerodynamics, or you are pulling strawmen out of your ass.

Either way at this point I shoudl know not to waste my time with chemtrail morons.

Was on my iPad. So let's focus on this.

I said that cloud seeding programs are in effect. They are more than just possible. There are also projects to simply provide "overcasting". These planes are equipped with that "extra weight" you are talking about.
Pilots' knowing what that extra weight actually is, is what I am questioning. Not every pilot is fully briefed on their payload. Here is a picture I took of some trails as the planes flew:

I don't claim to know what is in those trails, but I know they lasted for hours. Also not the most trails I've seen at one time. I took the picture because it was live action, and very cool looking.

This one was directly over my house on a really hot, clear day. No planes in the image, but they were still visible from the ground.

So your assumption is that whatever they would need to do a "chemtrail" would have to be in addition to the other fluids used in cloud seeding?

This is where you seem to be having trouble understanding you aren't making much sense.

I'm not certain chemtrails are a real thing. I am certain our government has repeatedly experimented on uninformed civilians without any disclosure, and gotten away with it for years until the documents are declassified. So the idea that it couldn't be done, and kept secret is pretty silly.

Prove it.

Given the right conditions you can form those contrails with no seeding.

No professional pilto is going to take off regularly with hundreds fo extra pouinds of fluid having no idea if it is there.

s2s2s2: I don't claim to know what is in those trails, but I know they lasted for hours.

I recommend you take up some basic physics courses because I can't spoonfeed the intentionally stupid.

But the fact is that you are implying every respected metrorologist and aeronoautical engineer (not to mention a number of amateur mechanical engineers among others) are lying about how contrails are formed.

Have fun with that, but you accusing pros of lying with no undersatnding of what is going hardly puts history on your side.

liam76: Prove it.

So we are back to "cloud seeding is magic"? Let me do it this way: "Hey Mac, you're taking this plane up for some cloud seeding. You know when to push the buttons, Here's what you're flying with." *pilot is briefed with accurate weight information, not a detailed ingredients list*

Ta Da! There IS not "extra" weight.

liam76: Given the right conditions you can form those contrails with no seeding.

Absolutely NO argument from me, there. Contrails are a common thing that happens in flight. I do NOT have any reason to BELIEVE that "chemtrails" are a real thing, only certainty that they are a possibility.

We can agree Iraq had a lot to do with oil, right? Can we prove it? I mean, we can look and see that it's likely, but can we PROVE it?

liam76: No professional pilto is going to take off regularly with hundreds fo extra pouinds of fluid having no idea if it is there

Are they going to test it? Again, the idea of "extra" fluid is something you are making up. Any chemicals would be in the "cloud seeding" tanks.

Thanks. Can I offer you some light reading?

No, I want you to prove that those planes that put out the contrails from your picture were there to "seed clouds" or provide coverage and weren't just flying.

Those are your claims.

You have presented proof of contrails, and claimed that the planes were equipped with equipment and fluid for seeding, but you have provided no proof for it.

And for the records most chemtrail tards claim that all contrails are chemicals, if you are just claiming that it is only "cloudseeding" aircraft that do that, then what is the point?

s2s2s2: I do NOT have any reason to BELIEVE that "chemtrails" are a real thing, only certainty that they are a possibility.

A possibility contingent upon pilots having no idea what they are flying around with.

Now you have made it very clear that you are ignorant enough about aviation to think that is perfectly normal. The question is if you are stupid enough to think that "a thing is possible" means that the history is on your side wrt it happening (the argument at hand).

s2s2s2: We can agree Iraq had a lot to do with oil, right? Can we prove it? I mean, we can look and see that it's likely, but can we PROVE it?

Yeah. A senior Bush official calling out Iraq's oil as a reason makes it pretty clear to me.

s2s2s2: Are they going to test it? Again, the idea of "extra" fluid is something you are making up. Any chemicals would be in the "cloud seeding" tanks.

No I am not "making up" extra fluid.

If you are arguing it is only cloud seeding planes, then it is such a tiny amount of aircraft it wouldn't have an effect unless they were laying down enough whatever it is that it was traceable to individual aircraft.

You are still talking about a black ops group that flies completely off the record, or sneaks into chemical companies and replaces regular could seeding fluids (and you have yet to put forth a number of them) has been doing so for years and nobody has come forth.
