32x32 pixels? That's not so bad. I used to bull's-eye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They're not much bigger than 32x32 pixels.

Funny, but honestly it probably should have been held onto and released on those machines in the first place.  It was really shoehorned onto the last-gen consoles.

The mouse is a crappy way to control a game, and I say this as someone who has been gaming on everything-- PC included-- since PCs were invented. I say this as someone who built my own gaming rig.

Using a mouse to play a game means you're hunched over a desk with your face a few inches from a monitor. Using a game controller for PC games means you're able to recline on your couch and enjoy the big TV... yes, you can use your PC on the big TV with a mouse, but it's a real pain in the ass to use a mouse on a sofa without having to hunch over a table. Try using mouse & keyboard while reclining, with your feet up.

The only people who obsess about mouse & keyboard anymore are obsessive twitch FPS gamers who think circle-strafing is vitally important and who think winning a round of COD is some kind of grand honor... And frankly, most FPS games suck these days.

I was pretty surprised as well that they tried to jam another title onto that generation, but hey they get to double dip on anyone who absolutely had to play the game even on one of those machines and couldn't wait for the proper release with at least some semblance of the horse power required to bring those games to life.  I've intended to give them full price for the game but only when its out on a platform worthy of it...so this fall, finally :)

You mean the smooth, controlled, sweeping motion that can be modified by the width of a pixel with the intuition of writing is subpar to the herky jerky, only made slightly smooth through the usage of aim-assist algorithms, all the while reminding one of the same old dick waggling joystick nonsense of 40 years ago? Hmm.

I've been playing games while sitting in a rocking chair since 1982. It's the only way that I can technically sit still long enough to play a game.

It made using the Wii impossible so I immediately brought that thing over to my parents' house.

I cannot imagine how horrible it would be to play Civ, nethack, WOW, StarCraft, SimCity, (I could go on) on a console, with no mouse to select things nor keyboard to give multiple different commands.

Any if those games with 10 buttons and a D-Pad would be an exercise in frustration.

What's a "disc"?  My Skyrim was a digital download from steam.  And while you're right that I can't resell it, I get most games at deep discounts during holiday sales and the digital bits are still shiny and new, vs a used dvd for a console that may or may be dinged up.  Also, PC graphics >>>>>>>>>>>>> console.  Also, mods.

How come consoles don't have the option to control with a mouse/keyboard.  I would think this would bring in more converts, plus they could have more officially licensed peripherals.

This is what I've been doing for the last year or so. Big comfy chaise couch with big 55" LED TV with my gaming rig hooked directly to my surround sound system.. I sit on the couch either sitting up or reclining on the chaise with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I've done everything from FPSs to platformers this way. It's easy and very comfy.

Now, for the article in question, something like that has been around for along time.

Depending on the game, I find that I like using a controller for movement and then using a mouse to interact. It makes it a very intuitive gaming experience, far better than trying to use the keyboard to move. I hold the controller in my left hand and use it to move (and cycle through hotkeys) and use the mouse with my right.

Or maybe he is saying how inconvenient it is to setup any mouse button in game settings to automatically execute a command that would otherwise require a console user to press "B" every 60 seconds. Got it.

Also, that dude never heard about putting his feet up on the desk, keyboard on lap and mouse comfortably set where your arm rests naturally... pfff... what a load of bullocks saying consoles are better for ergonomics.

This is very telling about the state of your PC. Also, DRM is the reason for the existence of every console, and they are built from the ground up to maintain that DRM.

This is no longer 1992. Have way more technical problems and duff updates and installs from my PS3 than any PC i have owned since 2000. Consoles have DRM as well and unlike the PC you don't have the option not to use it.

Since the first XBOX consoles are basically last generation PC's with low quality parts.
