A million dollars isn't cool.  You know what is?  A billion worms, all pooping.

Just goes to show you what rich parents paying for a kid's education at Princeton will buy you.

Is...is that the extent of the idea? Because I have a million-dollar idea:

Cat vomit.

I've never used his products but I've beebe sing worm castings for years.. It's amazing stuff. It makes plants grow very fast and also gives fruits and veggies  a higher brix level making them more flavorful.

Totally read that as warm poop.

After reading it again, worm poop didn't sound so bad.

It's probably easier to care for thousands of worms constantly pooping instead of thousands of cats who will only vomit once in a while.

It's tempting to try the same thing, but without capital you might have to sell it at your local farmer's market and slowly expand.

I checked out their products page though.  They make a bunch of things now and they've got deals with lots of other companies.

Oh, and their idea of rewarding you for sending in your waste for their Terracycle Points?  It's not too good unless you collect massive amounts of waste.  From their website:

Collect empty snack bags and fill up a box or bag. If you are trying to earn TerraCycle points, remember that your shipments must weigh over 14 lbs (about 1,166 bags) to receive the TerraCycle point donation.

That's just to make several of the products they offer.

Oh, and their products aren't all 100% recycled.  These lovely speakers are only 80% recycled:

s3.amazonaws.com

Their website sucks too much to show me the price- I was just curious. I used Pringles cans for my speakers.

....this is a million dollar idea?

fark, when I was a kid, my dad used to buy worms to add to our compost pile. I should have told him to patent it or something.

DRTFA, but hasn't worm poop been a thing for.. hundreds of years?  I have a big compost pile in my back yard enjoying the benefits of worm poop right now!

Worm poo works great, I can attest to that.

Never tried their stuff though, I buy the stuff by the hundreds of pounds anyway.

2014-06-09 09:25:34 PM
I guess it's not as bad an idea as eating the worms themselves and then pooping them out for the fertilizer.

2014-06-09 09:27:58 PM
I mean, isn't most dirt really just worm poop anyway? Drtfa, but just curious

Is there a method one can use to prevent a web browser from autoplaying?

I use firefox on Win7. Does that matter?

Actually, about 6000 years.  But there wasn't any poop before that.

Think about it.

On step farther: recycle cat poop into dog food. It's their favorite snack anyway, right?

I read all about this in a very stupid book called "Maine" and the worm poop business that one of the daughers ran was the most interesting part of the book.  http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9923372-maine (at least I didn't buy it). It was big during the hippie-commune era.

National Geographic special, called Garbage Moguls, not sure if it was supposed to a series or a one-off thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIVGAqlxRgE  is a trailer.

He came off as very rude to his employees, sarcastic and condescending.

I grabbed it from demonoid several years ago.

On a lark, in 2001 Szacky and his Princeton roommate started feeding cafeteria leftovers to an army of earthworms.

So just a random thought that popped into their heads? Where does that even come from?

A centuries old tradition of vermicomposting.  Frankly, it's a great idea, and more cafeterias should probably do it.
