I think that the problem was that they had a plane, they just didn't fly it properly...

Wouldn't a little picture of a man gripping the seat for dear life be a better way to show the eject button?
/although, eyectarse would make a large button...

A Spanish Eurofighter jet crashed on Monday just before landing at an air base near Seville

its pretty impressive that he crashed, was killed, and then still managed to land.

Yeah, some kind of consensus between all the countries involved in building it.

You never get any cool names by commision.

/Spain is one of those countries, though the article fails to mention it.

Dude, there's also a Eurocopter. You wouldn't expect less from a consortium that came up with the name Airbus.

Bit surprised you haven't heard of the Eurofighter Typhoon.

http://theaviationist.com/2012/07/13/fia12-typhoon-raptor/

Its used by GB, Spain, Germany, Spain, Austria, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

And eats the F22 for breakfeast.

Do you know what scares me about spaceflight? What about highspeed rail or undersea tunnels? When I fall asleep on a plane, I picture highspeed water-jet shears, and portions of myself doing that through a crevice in the vehicle with my visible perception 'winking' through the seams in everything in diced forms of the whole thing inside and out. Then I hope time travel isn't real so event horizon rumors and spaceflight disprove that entire method for waking myself up while flying.

As someone who churns out hack business English writing for a living, I place the blame squarely upon the marvelous invention of the word processor... an infernal engine which encourages bad habits.

Productivity is amazing, and spellcheckers / grammar checkers are supposed to clean up errors. In fact what happens is a noxious habit of fire-and-forget, which is to say that [mostly underpaid] journalists write out a hasty, somewhat thoughtless first draft and shoot it off to an "editor", who doesn't really edit (and doesn't really care) as he slots in the text and sends it onward.

Do readers even care? I truly wonder; I find it annoying but then again I'm a notorious grammar uebersturmbahnfuehrer. How about an AP newstory reporting a young woman who walked across Africa, South-to-North, and was "...greeted in Morocco by a band playing symbols..."? Somebody is being paid hard money to report these events and they're farking up.

I can't afford to be so reckless ("wreckless"?) or cavalier when I do up an annual report or company profile, even if the competition here in Jakarta routinely turns out cracked copy.

It would be funny but it's not really funny when a client catches a blunder - or one of their customers laughingly points one out.

As an engineer, I'd just like to say that your "the" completely blows the meter, Subby.

LMAO at this statement!! Aerodynamically they are roughly on par with each other with the pilot being the limiting factor. There would be no clear winner in a visual engagement.

Its always wonderful to see a farktard referencing a blog as fact.

Its a fact until you find a better blog.

You know the rules.

Seriously though. Isn't the thing with the F22 that it is stealthy. It on the surface seems extremely counterintuitive that the sacrifices it has made for that stealthynes isn't a major drawback once its in visual range.

How many fights are in visual range anymore?  You can't kill what you can't see and if you have a hard time picking it up at range, you aren't going to still be flying to have a chance to eat it's lunch close in.

How about an actual news source.

" "We expected to perform less with the Eurofighter but we didn't," German air officer Marc Grune said, according to Combat Air Monthly. "We were evenly matched. They didn't expect us to turn so aggressively."

Also of note is that the F-22 was under flight restrictions imposed on it due to the now fixed oxygen mask issue.
