I'm torn on this whole issue, even as an impartial observer.

On the one hand, Miami is a -horrible- sports town in general.
On the other, giving Miami an MLS club makes more sense than giving Atlanta one.
Yet back on the first hand, hasn't Miami learned their lesson about building stadiums yet? If I were a resident and opposed to it, all I'd have to do is hand out pictures of Jeffery Loria.

I think, if Miami-Dade County officials were stupid enough to vote for public funding of yet another sports stadium there, after the Loria fiasco, they would have to hold a special election to replace all the suddenly-deceased county officials.

Oh good.  Maybe Moyes can spend their whole transfer budget on Michael Bradley and then not play him.

There's a few coaches in MLS that, tactically (not touching overall player management and development) at least, are better than Moyes. But that's more of a compliment to those coaches than a knock at Moyes necessarily. Say what you want about the quality and talent depth of the MLS, but it's not like every team is rolling out a 4-4-2 and playing hoofball.

The problem Miami will have w MLS, like they did before, the vast number of their immigrants come from non-soccer playing countries. And, put the stadium in Dade...and no one from Broward and Palm Beach come to games

Orlando has a better chance....the club is already established (more like being promoted from USL)...and has developed its fan base

Loria has poisoned the publicly funded arena market here in florida for the next decade or more. The dolphins owner tried to get 400 million to renovate his stadium last year and was denied. As a consequence the dolphins lost their spot in the superbowl rotation and the people were still against it.

/now the guy is going to pay for it himself (which is how it should have been done in the first place)

This is one of the best uses of the Florida tag in quite some time.

Becks is targeting Miami because it is a huge market and with his special franchise discount (he only has to pay $25 million for his as part of his contract in coming to MLS, where new franchises in Atlanta and Orlando have to pay $70 million) he doesn't have huge risk. As well, Becks has reiterated several times that he is paying for the stadium and new parkland all on his own. The city would have to put no money into the stadium. It is a win/win for everyone.

They have a perfectly good, brand new soccer stadium already. They are just playing the wrong sport in it right now.

Moyes is the perfect choice for a club that will never play in the European Champions' League.

That constant deer in the headlights face he does is disturbing.

We still depend on cast off European used to be sombodies to try and get over US Soccers inferiority complex. Hard to believe that there was no one else in this hemisphere to choose from.  Hint: he doesn't have to come from an English speaking country. Especially in south Florida.

Let me also comment that he turned Man. U into Everton and Everton got better after he left.
