geom_00: You left too soon in the Cosmos thread last night. Badges were made!

Yeah, I saw those just now. My net went down for whatever reason and didn't come back up until the middle of the night. Which was terrifying, because I was in the middle of watching last week's 24, and suddenly at about 3am, my computer picked up the internet, even though it was closed, and I heard Jack Bauer yelling from the living room in the pitch black.

Yes, I woke up to Jack Bauer yelling at me in the middle of the night.

I seriously cannot make this up.

cameroncrazy1984: How did she know, they were just heat signatures?

Mentat: Does the American President automatically gain control of Britain when he's elected in the 24 universe?

Isn't that how it works in reality?

serial_crusher: gilbyguy: In real life, would that actually happen?   I mean - would a paramedic answer the phone to try to get info about a John/Jane doe patient?

In the US, obviously, not in a fake made-up country like Great Britain or whatever it is.

While their health care in general is better than ours, all of europe's privacy laws are batshiat excessive. There is no way the paramedics would have been allowed to disclose that the phones owner had been hit by a bus.

I never even thought about HPPA type violations.  Good call.
