It's a fine line separating funny and terrifying when you run with the child rapists.  That's how I roll though, pedophile for life, YOLO!

Why is that terrifying? I'm not a kid.

FTA : Danny Cherry threatened or assaulted other teens in Indianapolis and in two other states

I was going to make a joke about his gay-porn sounding name, but on reading TFA, this dude needs to be put in a cage for life.

It's terrifying because some people are parents.

Plus, imagine how creepy it was to have learned that your neighbor had kidnapped 3 people and kept them prisoner for 10 years. People want to be able to look at monsters and know they're monsters. It can be terrifying to some people to think they know a predator personally and not know what secrets they were hiding until it's on the news.

It's all fun and games until...actually, it's never fun and games. And this is why online sexual predator stings have to be done. Because they can't wait until AFTER a crime has been committed to catch these freaks.

Well parents should teach their kids not to be idiots when they share information, that is part of what makes tham a parent. If you park your spawn in front of a compu and don't monitor their use or talk to them about what they are doing, you aren't parenting.

Agreed, but crap like this doesn't make parenting less terrifying. I suspect it may turn a few into helicopter parents.

I was never a sexy kid for I'm feeling rather hurt about all this.

Why should this creep be allowed to live another 40 or 50 years?  As long as he's alive there's always the possibility he could get out of prison and do it again. How many times have you heard about someone being released from prison early because of some clerical error?  Just recently there was the guy who was supposed to be in for life, but was caught on the outside after a snafu got him released 8 years ago,

I say this creep should be hung by the neck until dead.  To leave him alive is just giving him a chance to hurt someone else.

2014-06-09 04:20:43 AM
I don't like his profile. I don't like it at all. He sounds like a more demented version of J.W. Gacy. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out this guy has killed a few people.

Every time they broke the news to one of those "have a seat over there" suckers I was waiting for the fool to draw and start shooting anything that moved, only to be put down by the guys covering him.

Talk about a panic attack.

I'm surprised it didn't happen.

We could always go with tradition...

"drawing from the prison to the place of execution upon an hurdle or sled, where they are hanged till they be half dead, and then taken down, and quartered alive; after that, emasculated 'to show their issue was disinherited with corruption of blood' their members and bowels are cut from their bodies, and thrown into a fire, provided near hand and within their own sight, even for the same purpose."then quartered and the parts displayed to show the horrible fate of monsters.

Why do you assume he's crazy?
Why do you assume he doesn't know exactly what he was doing?

He was lucid. He was capable of carrying out involved multi-step plans. He was able to spend a long time grooming his victims without tipping his hand. He could delay gratification. He behaved in a rational way to get what he wanted. He seems to have been motivated by hatred as much as the desire for sexual desire.

Not everyone who does bad things is mentally ill and deserving of compassion and care. Some people are evil.

How did they not catch him earlier, jesus.

He's running around shooting at houses and people, plus they all had online contact with him, just like the last kid...

2014-06-09 06:39:38 AM
I wonder how his neighbors thought of this guy.  Super friendly and always helping, quiet loner who kept to himself or super creepy, with people crossing the street to avoid?

We put down rabid, dangerous dogs. This creep is no better.

2014-06-09 07:09:56 AM
Sounds like the dude wasn't actually a pedophile, he just had a bizzarely specific racist hatred and was using the internet to find targets to harass and potentially murder.

More a hate-crime themed serial killer than a sexual predator, though I'm sure they can nail him on the latter due to his MO partly involving exchanging explicit messages with underaged people over the internet.

Fortunately, he can be. Indiana permits consecutive sentencing for violent crimes, and with the obvious danger that he poses, it should be a snap to put him away for good.

Wow that's quite a rap sheet. This is America though, so I'm very curious to see the outcome of his trial. Can't wait to see what kind of ridiculously light sentance he gets. Personally I think he needs to be gruesomely executed, but all the criminal loving softies in this country would disagree, and I'm sure their comments will follow.

I know, this whole "mentally ill" plea is nothing more than a last ditch effort to get these sick bastards a lighter sentance and maybe even avoid prison all together. Sure maybe a few of them are, but I'm willing to bet most of them know what they are doing just the same and know its wrong.

Yeah, but you can't really say that it is unfortunate that this guy didn't kill anybody, and since he didn't, there's no option to execute him under Indiana law - so there's really no point in talking about it.

Or, save untold thousands of dollars in taxpayer money over a life sentance and execute the sick bastard. What the fark is it with everyone being satisfied with "locking them up for life?" People like this guy dont deserve to live what life they have left, especially in an American resort of a prison complete with 3 meals a day, all the comforts of home, and education benefits.

After RTFA, a rarity in and of itself, man. This person is just downright broken. I have to wonder just what the hell set of this kind of strange sexual/racist cocktail of hatred.

either way, I don't think there's any fixing it. We put down rabid dogs, after all, not lock them up to foam in a cage, and there's not much human about this one anymore.

Who gives a fark if he actually did kill someone or not! He's a violent Internet predator who's attempted murder on several occasions and had committed assault with deadly weapons! I think attempted murder needs to be treated the same as actual murder, or else it's like saying its ok to try but if you do it THEN youre in trouble.

Indiana law only provides the death penalty for murder.

There are legit arguments to be made in favor of the death penalty... Saving money is not one of them... It's been shown over and over again that it costs taxpayers a lot more money to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison for life... Yes, that's due to all the legal bills racked up during repeated appeals and such... I'm sure your solution is to eliminate all trials and just have a Judge Dredd style judge/jury/executioner do it all?

Well that's why this legal system sucks ass. In a perfect world, it could be done for no more than the cost of a bullet. The legal system here is enough alone to honestly make me ashamed to be an American sometimes.
