(Springfield News-Leader)   Capitalism can bring the price down, making it less expensive to purchase a finished product. Oh, and Missouri isn't #1 in meth production. THANKS MEXICO   (news-leader.com) divider line 28

All the evidence indicates we're still #1 in consumption, though.

LEGALIZE IT!!!

And before you start biatching about how dangerous it is, and how awful it is that people do meth, THEY'RE GOING TO DO METH ANYWAY!

As we've said many many times before on here in reference to marijuana and alcohol, PROHIBITION DOES NOT WORK.

It's time to legalize ALL drugs.  Put in place a treatment program for everyone who wants help getting off them, but stop trying to pretend that it's possible to stop people from using whatever drugs they want to use.

The benefit?  I can unstop my nose without being treated like a criminal.  I can unstop my drain without being on a list.  And my hippie friends can make soap without supply difficulties.

Oh, and thousands of people don't go to jail, millions of tax dollars are saved, and maybe, just maybe, the police will stop being the most dangerous street gang in America.

Prohibition doesn't work in Springfield

Mayor Quimby: You can't seriously want to ban alcohol. It tastes great, makes women appear more attractive, and makes a person virtually invulnerable to criticism.
Helen Lovejoy: Oh, won't someone please think of the children?
Maude Flanders: What kind of example are we setting?
Chief Wiggum: Ladies, please. All our founding fathers, astronauts, and World Series heroes have been either drunk or on cocaine.

I tried meth once a few years ago.  Can't figure out what people see in it.  Smoked and snorted some with a hard-core tweaker.  I got a mild buzz, about the equivalent of a couple of ephedrine.  Also, my teeth started hurting along with my nose, and I was blowing out ugly gray boogers afterwards.  Two hours later, I fell asleep.  Meh about meth.

And don't get my started on salvia divinorum.  My druggie friend who did just about everything got seriously fried on it--a wicked 15-minute buzz that's stronger than LSD--while I didn't get anything after a dozen hits.

Psycat:  I got a mild buzz, about the equivalent of a couple of ephedrine.

I'm guessing if that was meth, it was heavily cut or just poorly made. Where's Walter White when you need him?

Have the authorities been checking the fast food supply trucks in the area? Would not be surprised if the cartels watched BB and took notes.

My tweaker friend assured me that it was really good stuff.  I just have very weird brain chemistry.  I'm also pretty much immune to most psychedelics like LSD, psilocybin 'shrooms, calamus, etc.

Apparently in Missouri they've made pseudoephedrine containing decongestants prescription only. But methamphetamine of very high quality is freely available by taking a short drive to the seedy side of town. By making the precursors harder to obtain, they've succeeded in outsourcing the labs to Mexico, where they are producing it on an industrial scale, both lowering the price, and raising the quality. I imagine the US companies that sell the tons of precursor chemicals to Mexico must be a little curious at the surprising number of stuffy noses Mexicans have these days, but then they think about the money, and their curiosity rapidly fades away.

Joplin Mo. farker here, and I was having this conversation just the other evening re; "You just don't hear about meth labs being busted anymore yet tweakers are still everywhere." and I was told by the L.E.O. that was in the group that Mexican "ice" had taken over the market. Interesting to read this article re-iterating that position.

My friend assured me that it was and some pretty good stuff, too.  I just have a strange tolerance for some drugs.  IIRC, I was given amphetamines as a child to--believe me--calm me down.  Apparently, if you're a borderline hyperactive kid, amphetamines actually have something of an opposite effect...

Obamacare means you can get mental health treatment now, you know. I mean, I understand, part of having a serious mental illness means you think you don't have a serious mental illness.

But you can get help. It's out there for you. I hope you get it before you hurt yourself or someone else. Good luck.

And you don't need US companies anyway, if you're looking to manufacture meth in large amounts and have paid off Mexican customs...

http://dir.indiamart.com/impcat/pseudoephedrine.html

Or if you've actually got an industrial lab anyway...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephedrine#Synthesis

Doesn't look that hard, really, any chemist probably could do it fairly easily.

/disclaimer:  I am not a chemist, it could be harder than it looks.

Or you could just follow the Erowid recipe...

https://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/meth.louisfreeh.htm l

I can't imagine any of that could be hard for a drug gang in Mexico to do, then they just have to import it into the US - and they've got plenty of experience with that.

No, prohibition cannot work.  All it does is make life more miserable for the rest of us.

As long as private prisons can bill for the room and board and make unlimited political contributions, the drug war will continue in the US.

Yeah, it doesn't work like that. My guess is either your friends are dumb asses or they're just farking with you and giving you placebos. But I've meet folks who have made your same claim before, you give them some real stuff and they freak out because it actual works.

Not everywhere...that's the problem.  One city will have it prescription only, but the next town won't, so the sales of "sudafed" are through the roof in one town.

Yep, case in point.

Here in St. Charles County, I would need a prescription for that. But if I drove across the river to St. Louis County, I can get it without a prescription.

Just sign for it, and they watch how often you buy the stuff.

Or buy the version of 'Sudafed' without the special ingredients in it.. which they might as well mark as 'Placebo'.
