21 Jump Street was a far better film than I thought it would be.  I'm psyched about 22 Jump Street.

Seriously, everything from "fark you science" to "you can't two-strap it" had me rolling.  And the cameos were icing on the cake.

That's exactly how I described it. It should be the tagline on the poster.

X3.  I thought, "Meh, I'm bored so I'll watch it."  I had to admit it was effing funny as hell.

Fourthed.

My brother was up visiting and the gals decided to hit the mall.

It was a close call, but we decided to see 21 Jump Street over shopping with our wives.  May be partially due to low expectations, but we both enjoyed it.  I ended up seeing it twice more with friends who skipped it with similarly low expectations.  Both thanked me for convincing them to see it.

Brother is visting next weekend; plan to go see 22.

Never saw the first one, but I caught the trailer for 22 before a billion dick jokes in the west the other day. Looks funny. And honestly, I laughed my ass off at a million ways to die.

Foreign audiences must've lapped up all of the anti-gay marketing for this film.

Yeah, body shaming!!!! It's only slur you can use.*

I only recently watched 21 Jump Street because the same people who did that movie did Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie, which were both hilarious. 21 Jump Street was the same.

I'll admit I don't understand the love. I just can't seem to think of any of the current crop of pudgy, hairy "comedians" on the same scale as John Candy or Chris Farley.

Nothing about this move appeals to me. I hope it's success at least keeps the industry afloat long enough to eventually make some movies I can stand.

\more power to y'all, but I'm a strong "MEH" on this one

No. Don't for God's sake!!! That film was horrendous!

On the other hand:

21 JS was pretty damn funny until, like, the last 10 minutes or so. Tatum has a knack for comedy that I'd have never suspected. I'll be catching the sequel in the theater.

The irony of this is that while it may prevent internationals from watching shiatty cam recordings instead of going to the theater, it usually results in me watching a shiatty cam recording instead of going to the theater.

eleventh?  I agree with most everyone. 21 was FAR better than I expected, not excellent, but an amusing and not disappointing 90 mins. I suspect 22 will be much the same, nothing exceptional, but an enjoyable flick. "This is the End" though, I didn't get it, unfunny and boring. *shrug* to each their own.

#12. 21 Jump Street was far better than it had any right to be ("Fark you, science!" and "what kind of shiat do they say about covalent bonds in this school?" still crack me up), and the sequel looks just as good. I know the melodramas pay the bills, but Channing Tatum has real chops as a comedian, and I wish he'd do more of them.

I ignored 21 Jump Street when it was in theaters and when it came out on DVD. Didn't catch it until almost a year later when it was on one of the movie channels. Put me in the "it was way better than it had any right to be" camp. Channing Tatum and Ice Cube were both surprisingly funny.

I may have to check out the new one next week.

Add me to the list of people anticipating for me.  Looking like this summer will be better than last.  Movies I thought were good so far

Chef
Godzilla
X-Men
Edge of Tomorrow

Neighbors was so-so.  A Million Ways was my one disappointment so far.

AbiNormal: Another sophmoronic frat boy comedy, oh joy.

[wilsonteacher.ca image 384x400]

I'm sorry we can't all be spoonfed faux philosophy from people who spent college going I AM GOING TO GET BLITZED AND THINK DEEP shiat THOUGHTS YO.

Frankly, I find anything more pretentious than frat boy comedy tedious at best.  I don't want/need life lessons from some focus group marketing vehicle. I just want to watch something that makes me laugh.

I watch like 3 movies a year though. Mostly I read trash fiction/fantasy/scifi.

I thought the first was a fun, dumb comedy, I liked it way more than I thought I would,  Then again, I watched McGruber in its entirety last night so maybe I'm not the best judge.

I remember the day after my 21st birthday me and my friends played a drinking game where anytime "McGruber" was said in that movie we had to drink. Wasted before 2 pm.

Mugato: What does that even man?

It looked like it was going to be action-comedy shlock like any number of other buddy comedies, but its presentation, delivery, and hang-a-lampshade-on-it-ness made you feel like you didn't waste your time watching it. It knew the tropes, delivered the tropes, and played with the tropes a little bit. With the low bar Hollywood has set, 21 Jump Street was better than it had any right to be. You expected it to be horrible, but the chemistry of the actors and the script were pretty enjoyable in the end.

At this point, if something engages me to the point where I watch the entire thing, consider me impressed.

No. Jonah Hill is about as funny as a frozen suppository.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in a movie based on a tv show with Johnny Depp. If you can't see why Fark doesn't consider that Christmas, you haven't been here very long.

Fark can go suck a dick for all I care, when it comes to what's supposed to be a good movie. 21 Jump Street did exactly what I want in a comedy: it made me laugh until I cried. If Fark had it's way, I'm sure that every movie would be a pretentious snore fest like The Fault of Our Stars or some such nonsense.

Fark fails at knowing anthing about music or comedies. I think only Rush and Monty Python are liked around here. fark also seems to hate fat Jewish comedic actors.
