(KSDK St. Louis)   A graduating senior who lost both his mother and father notices every student giving the principal $6 when they were called up to collect their diploma and follows suit, not knowing it was going to a good cause. Damn dusty in here   (ksdk.com) divider line 32

Nowhere in the article does it say each student was giving $6. It does say that the recipient of the donations only had $6 on him and hoped it would be enough when he noticed everyone else making donations.

They raised $846 from 67 students, that works out to $12.63 per person. Though the $846 value is couched with an "I believe".

He'll be able to take like 4 classes at community college with that, score!

Only if someone else was donating textbooks.

Not quite the whole story... this kid & his sister have 6 (much older) adult siblings by the same father.
Their dad was 77 when he died, and the kid's step-mother (wife #3) is still very much alive.
So yes its a very nice gesture, but don't worry - its not like these two kids were going to be out on the street.

C'mon guys let's use the power of Fark to help this guy. It sucks what he's lived through and now he's gonna have to be super careful in college because he likely doesn't have a social safety net.

/dusty it is.

The twist is that the kid killed his dad to collect eight-hundred bucks at graduation.

I read the headline, read the story, read the headline again, and then realized that subby must be at least a little tipsy this afternoon. Good for them, it's a nice saturday.

Download Google Chrome, go to Settings, click Content Settings, look for Plug Ins, select "Click to Play". Voila, no more auto-playing videos ever again. And while you have Google Chrome, install AdBlock Plus, cause you sound like you might need help in that department as well.

You're welcome.

If people can't be funny, they can at least suck.

My high school principal retired as of the end of our senior year so our graduation was the last official duty he had as a principal.  We managed to get all of the graduates to give him a quarter during the handshake, it was pretty funny after a few hundred kids when he was running out of places to stash the quarters.  In hindsight we should have had whoever was going on stage first give him a jar or something to put them into but it was pretty funny, he got a big kick out of it.

Geez, get some air filters you big babies and get that dust out of the air.

Oh, and cool story.

That dust clears up really fast when you think about how much the principal skimmed off the top.

$846? Are there only like 20 students in his class?

2014-06-08 11:52:29 AM
I wish it had been my graduating class. We had over 600 kids. I wonder....

In FF go to Add-ons , Plugins, Shockwave Flash and use the drop-down menu to change it to "Ask to Activate". If that choice is not available, type about:config into your adress bar, search for plugins.click_to_play and toggle it to "true" then restart FF and change the Shockwave Flash drop-down.

I write articles for an automotive trade publication, studying diesel mechanics isn't a bad career choice at all. If he sticks it out and gets a little financial help, and organizations like the ASCCA can help him, he should do well.
