Sim Tree: If they were only in place to keep the high school students from parking there, he could petition the city council to change the "no parking" to "no parking between 7-9 AM". This would let him unload groceries and such and still make it unavailable to the high-schoolers.

Nutsac_Jim: if the kids part there to go to school, then put up a 
no parking from 6 am - noon sign, or make it permit parking.

You two just stop this logical argument stuff.  He's not really caring about what he protest, he's an attention whore who wants everyone to notice his self improvement.  First he'll lose a little weight, next he'll do bicycle rides for cyclists rights, then he'll do a weight workout regiment for illegal immigration which will leave him very buffed and tanned from doing it all outside.  Then he'll write a book.
