It's been long enough, I think I could tolerate another Austin Powers movie, although the third one was insufferable.

There's no such thing as 'rural Canada', it is skyscrapers and monorails from coast to coast to coast (Canada has three coasts).

Collecting urine in rural Canada would still have been better then The Love Guru.

No way. Myers is banned from sequels. He has a history of creating a movie that is original and clever with some heart and then making sequels that are all obvious uninspired schlock full of inside jokes and pop-culture references.

I think he does great work when he thinks nobody likes him.

I'll say this for Mike Myers, he finally figured out he was stretching thin his best characters and took a break. Of course the "Love Guru" (has anyone watched that?) probably cemented the idea he needed it.

another wayne's world would be fine

simaam was one of the best movies in my lifetime, not just the best mm movie. i could watch it fortnightly, especially with a bucket of chicken.

The third one was horrible, but they did leave it open at the end for a sequel.

And it seems like Mike Myers must have spent his time trying to regain his Canadian accent since it really comes through more than I remembered.

The Love Guru is the second move I've walked out of, and asked for my money back.  The other was Freddy Got Fingered.

Felt sad for him watching TLG, I told my wife "This guy has come with any new jokes in 20 years?  Really?"

I would be ready for a Mike Meyers film again. I'd rather see him in a creey evil role though. Kinda like Robin Williams in One hour Photo

"Axe Murderer" was funny, but it was just enough.

Given Hollywood's propensity for not understanding that just enough is just enough and more is too much and ruinous, a sequel would probably have a plot somehow centered around Charlie's Dad in which he goes from just crotchety and looney enough to be hilarious to tiresome and boring.

Mike Myers is rich as shiat.  Not from his movies, but he's made some really savvy investments.

I remember driving to work years ago and I noticed a beat up sunfire on the road with a license plate MIKEMYERS. It had all these Cat in the Hat toys covering the car. I thought who in their right mind is that big of a fan that they would cover their car with crappy merchandise. When I passed him I looked at the driver. It was Mike Myers.

2014-06-06 01:36:54 PM
Not quite, subby. Everyone knows Mr. Myers pissed away his career in India in 2008.
At least he has voice work as an ogre.

AeAe: Mike Myers is rich as shiat.  Not from his movies, but he's made some really savvy investments.

He was making $20 million per movie, so some of it is from the movies. Plus, he doesn't seem to be spending a lot of it on gold-plated Escalades, hookers and blow.

2014-06-06 02:02:17 PM
Well no shiat, he has a lot of money, he can afford to just buy more drugs rather than reclaiming them from his piss.

Loved the first Austin Powers movie because it was a great spoof of Bond films, conflating Bond's copious romantic tangles with the free love vibe of the '60s to get the titular protagonist.

The sequels weren't nearly so good because they missed the point. They loaded up on the '60s schtick and edged out the spy film gags. Think back to all the best parts of AP and question: is at a '60s thing, or is it a Bond spoof?

It was mildly amusing, but mostly lame. Just like 99% of the skits Carson did. And they knew it was lame. They were making fun of the material themselves as they went through it.

Nope. No comparison. Sorry.

The guy who giggled his way through every lame-ass SNL sketch of his career couldn't carry Carson's colostomy bag.
