My first thought, before I even clicked the link, was, "Yes, out of Lego." Click the link, and BOOM--Lego.

Wake me when you have a bigger one with a mowing deck.
One I can do my entire law with, in fact, one that just does my lawn when I'm not home.

Gotta get that Class B back to base somehow, i missed by 15k on the de-orbit! (Not bad for manual "landing" of a 30 ton rock)

The final loaded contraption DID fly a couple times, but i didn't have the control authority to keep it level under FAR conditions. I ended up driving back to base with it.

I'm going to get an RC car and make it into a remote controlled security 'droid for my farm. Mount a wireless audio/video baby monitor on it, sit inside the house, and drive it up to trespassers. Ask them what the fark they're doing, and if they don't respond, blast them with the Bear Spray.

It's primary mission, of course, is to intercept bears on the property (I got bear, moose, coyotes, cougars (allegedly) and various other critters roaming the area). Of course, it will be built to look like a Mars Rover when I'm done.

Obstacles such as rocks and curious children can't be avoided, since there's no software or sensors to control the steering,

Why the heck not?  Such things aren't exactly hard to come by these days.  Making a solar powered rover that could avoid obstacles would be the difference between a dumb project and a fun project.
