I've always guessed that no one with the Seattle team had access to Google image search when they named that team.

Fulham shouldn't be bragging about scoring ability with the season they had. A whopping -45 GD.

Well deserved relegation. Looks like they missed Clint more than they would have guessed.

Filthy lucre.

Also, a lot of their fans are already here, so.

More about having catastrophic defense. They allowed 12 goals more than the second-worst defense and more than triple that of the Jose Mourinho Bus Company.

That's like saying water is a Third World liquid, that's why it's so popular there.

It also explains why Gatorade is so popular with couch potatoes. It's got electrolytes.

Might be a total surprise to you but many Mexicans already are living in the USA, and they loooooove their El Tri.

I was one of the attendees for this game.  Lovely 4-0 victory.

/yes, I agree we shouldn't have gotten the penalty kick at the end of the first half.

Or the fact that security costs are cheaper in the USA since we dont throw blood/feces/urine bombs onto the field. Or that opposing clubs dont want any part of going into Mexico and the altitude/smog. Also  training in and going out in the USA where they are just some guy and not OMG ITS CHICHARITO!!

It's all about the $$$$.  Mexico makes a lot more money off friendlies in the USA than in Mexico.  Been doing this for years.  US Soccer also makes money off all international friendlies held here, so $$$ for everyone.
This year is a little different since lots of teams headed for the WC in Brazil are hosting camps here and taking advantage of the numerous stadiums to hold tune-up games.

Generation_D: Suck it, Portland

Because we all know Century Link Field will open all sections for the Pacific Northwest Derby on July 13th.  It won't beat Mexico's record, but 67,000 fans are going to pack that place for that game, as well as the following week with a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur.

2014-06-06 12:55:19 PM
Man, if people in Seattle go so nuts for a team in a second-rate soccer league, just imagine the support a new team in one of the major pro leagues would get.

No wonder Bettman and the NHL brass are so interested in Seattle as a potential expansion market.

I'm not disputing it, I'm just still holding out hope Portland's aways get denied entry beforehand, Joey tries to bring in his chainsaw again or some other fun antics they have come up with.

I moved to Portland about 20 years ago and found Soccer City USA.  I love it here.  Timbers are away this weekend but I'm excited for Saturday's Thorns - WNY match.

I do wish our stadium held more people, but even capped at ~20K it's a riot of a place to watch a match.  And we do know how to decorate it when appropriate.

It's the same problem in NFL threads: they spend more time talking about San Francisco than Seattle.

They must really hate Seattle.

/watched a Portland home game on TV, it almost single-handedly made me think about choosing them over San Jose

Good points...

England is playing 2 of their WC tune up friend lies in Miami. The draw vs Ecuador may not look good at first glance...but it got Three Lions familiar w heat and humidity like in Brazil...and...large Ecuadorian population in Miami area is like playing a road match
