I did. Did you know snails use poisonous penis daggers to stab each other in order to increase their enemy-mate's fertility before raping them?

But don't worry PC people, they're hermaphrodites, so it's okay.

And ants have, in the middle of their feet, tiny pads of hair so fine that they can use the same quantum forces as gekos to cling to surfaces.

Shark skin is extremely rough to dicourage barnacles and other hangers on.

Giraffe tongues are about 24" long, prehinsile, and black. They're also rough as sandpaper.

Male bees ejaculate so hard their genitals blow off with an audible popping sound, leaving them with a fatal abdominal wound.

Snakes don't have an external nose. Those nostril looking holes some vipers have are heat sensing organs, effectively giving them infravision.

Squid mate with a specia tentacle that pierces the female's skin and injects pressurized sperm. The females, of course, object and fight back hard to avoid being jabbed. Some giant squid corpses have been found to have stabbed themselves with this tentacle, presumbably leading to their subsequent death and beaching.

Mayflies live for much much longer than 24 hours. Some species go as long as a year in their larval stage. It is only the final, adult form that has the 24 hour short life.

A cetain species of jellysifh can reverse the damage from aging by reverting to the polyp stage for awhile.

Speaking of polyp stage, most of America's states have reported blooms of freshwater jellyfish. Their medusa is about a quarter's size. They soend almost all of their tine as polyps and only medusa in perfect conditions.

This is why you don't accept blowjobs from snails.

Yes, I was shown at a young age, late at night, by the glimmer of a B&W TV set, that a Snail's radula is indeed scary

The preferred diet of the Siafu Ants (also known as the Driver ant or the Army ant) is sausage and onion.

The African land snail can achieve speeds of well over 300 mph when riding in a jet airplane.

Cane toads taste like cane sugar.

There is a species of ocean-dwelling fish called the slippery dick.

A New World monkey, Callicebus aureipalatii, is named for the online casino GoldenPalace.com.

The longest accepted scientific name belongs to a fly, Parastratiosphecomyia stratiosphecomyioides.

Giraffe tongues aren't black. That would be a boring sort of weird. They're actually darkish purple. I feed them on a semi-regular basis at the local zoo.

I forgot to mention, a giraffe can easily pick its nose with its tongue.

Ah... traumatic insemination.

But enough about subby's mom.  I'm excited to learn how do do electron microscopy this summer!  Meaning, I suppose, that I could take pictures like this one of a housefly's genitals.  I'm not clear on which part does what... I will have to leave that to the lady houseflies.

The rhino is the self-appointed fire-prevention officer. When he sees a fire, he rushes in and stamps it out.

Yet it can't scratch its own ass. Go figure.

I got to drive an electron microscope a few times when I was working at a university. They're fun, although we were looking at micro-structured surfaces rather than biological stuff.

We'll be doing TEM of muscle fibers.  Fancy-shmancy.  I'm about equal parts artist and scientist, so imaging like this really appeals to me.

BUT.  The electron microscopy textbook I've been reading is, how do you say, dense?

Giraffe's tongues are not completely black, only the part that sticks out (which is, admittedly, quite long) is dark in color.

Also, yes, snakes DO breathe through their nostrils. They smell with their tongues but breathe through their nostrils.
