But what of the shuubs and zuuls?  Knew they not the roasting fire as well?

And WTF of the basic common sense?  Like, don't say that word in front of people.  If you MUST, you can THINK it all you want, but for Gozer's sake, don't say it!

Regardless of who you are, you need to be careful with what you say.

Now he has a black mark on his record.

At least he actually said n*gger, unlike TFA which hides behind 'the N word' a half dozen times.  Take responsibility.

I've learned from black people that it's okay for them to use that word. It's a term of endearment when they do it.

That's why any time I see my friends I say "what up my honkey!"

Wonderful.
No can we all please stop saying "the 'n'-word" now?
Either say it or don't
But don't say it

Yes, have some.

You might be shocked to learn this, but not all black people are in agreement about the use of the word. Many of us choose not to say it and shun those who do.

As for the fire chief getting fired...I'm okay with this.

I guess it might be wrong, but I still sort of feel OK stereotyping when I fall squarely in the identified group.

As a recovering, drunken Irishman I have no problem assuming a group of drunk white dudes are looking to start shiat.

Because white people is crazy. Right, my cracker-ass, crackas?

Are you referring to what the Shubs and Zuuls were roasted in? If so, then yes.

This particular article is about a racial slur, which has a similar pronunciation.

I had the opportunity to see the results of a young black guy saying "what's up my n..." to and old black guy.

I have never before or since seen some verbally admonished to the extent that kid was.

The Louis C.K. angle?

By using the phrase "The N-Word" you're making me say the actual word in my head when I decipher your code word.

Either use the word, or don't use the word. Do make me responsible for saying the word, you asshole.

Something to that effect.

I knew an Irishman who had the hilarious knack for pouring beer in his eye whilst denying he had a drinking problem.

When it comes to stereotyping one's own ethnicity, I guess the rule is "If it's funny, it flies, but don't  you try it."

I said don't say it.
It shouldn't be used.
But if you're going to refer to it, be person enough to use it.

Like a knight who says Nee.
Be the one that says it. As in he said this. BAM. Now you aren't owning it, you're merely sating a fact without being the asshole.

He said it in a casual context that carried no malice at all.  Suspend him, I guess, because he is a political figure, but I don't think firing him is appropriate.

abhorrent1: I've learned from black people that it's okay for them to use that word. It's a term of endearment when they do it.

Is this that hard to understand?  When a white person says "n@gger", the connotation is almost unmistakably hostile, or at the very least, intended to offend black people.  When a black person does it in this context, it isn't.  I don't see why that's some sort of moral outrage.  I'd rather we have a common sense approach to this issue than some sort of idiotic zero-tolerance.

We're used to being judged on the color of our skin, but that doesn't mean we have to like it, have to accept it.

See, I might call my wife 'white' or my friends 'white', but that's a term of endearment.  That's because it's OUR word.  We've taken it so that it has no power over us.  To everyone else, you call us as we are: Caucasian-Americans.

For those of you who are not Caucasian-American, you need to understand that you can't know what it's like to be called 'white,' day in and day out.  You can't possibly understand, or even conceive of what that does to us, as a people.  You can never know, because you were not born Caucasian-American.  No - it's obvious that YOU were born a racist.

Any time you try to be sympathetic, to claim you share our troubles, you only insult us and expose your inherent racism. You do not know our history, you do not know our songs, or the struggles our people have gone through, you know nothing of us, nothing of our unique culture, you do not know our brothers and sisters - and it's disgusting when you act like you do.  In fact, acting 'white' is literally one of the most reprehensible things you can do, that marks you as a small minded bigot of the worst kind.
 / joking

// seriously though, it seems like racism is more alive in minority groups than the majorities?
/// hey - remember when slashies were a thing?
