That article brings up two questions:

1) Why are they microwaving the white people?
2) How will he spend the checks that will start rolling in? I hear Bermuda is nice this time of year.

You can never stop racism, sexism, or any other sort of bigotry  from happening on an individual basis. Douchebags will be douchebags. The media in this country gives a very large sounding board to the extremists in order to grab ad dollars. It has become almost to the extent that, if you aren't outraged about something, you aren't normal. That being said....what the fark was the owner of this place thinking? How, in this age of global awareness of everyone knowing what you ate for lunch and how big your last bowel movement was, do you isolate yourself enough to think that this is OK?

I assume the buck stops where liability ends.  Employers are responsible to employees for ensuring a non-discriminatory work environment.  So, with regards to the black employees, the buck stops with the employer.  That's who they'll sue.

With regards to the employer, the buck stops at the outsourced management company, because they probably breached their contract in providing such a shiatty manager.  That's who he'll sue.

It seems in recent years that the term "racist" has been thrown around too freely.

"Obama is a terrible president." "RACIST!"
"Kids nowadays better learn to pull their pants up." "RACIST!"

Nah ah, this ain't racist. The shiat in this story? That is old fashioned, straight up, 100% unadulterated racist shiat right there. That is so racist, if Paula Deen and Bill O'Reilly were in the room, they'd put up their hands and say,"hey, HEY! Take it easy with that there!". That shiat is so racist, if Rev. Al Sharpton didn't hear about this in the news, he would still be psychically drawn to the cotton mill like Richard Dreyfus was to the Devil's Tower in Close Encounters. This ain't your 21st century racism that can easily be forgotten after an obligatory "I'm sorry if you were offended by my remarks..." bullshiat. This is the kind of racism from a time when there was no such term as "The N Word", people just said the N word while looking you straight in the eye. My grandpappy liked to call it the good ol' days.

No... Obama winning only showed that about 51% of the population (give or take) is probably not racist. A significant portion of the remaining 49% have been working very hard to be as racist as they can get away with since then. Some have been more 'successful' with that effort than others, obviously.

Not so much eliminated it, as put it to a useful purpose. His election apparently enabled legions of "conservatives" and Republicans to suddenly perceive that the foreign policies, civil liberties policies, diplomatic policies, veterans policies, etc. that they have themselves been implementing and endorsing for all my 64 years actually suck ripe donkey balls.
It is simply amazing to me the way the scales have fallen from their eyes, and they have suddenly become so perceptive.
I do hope this state of enlightenment persists after Mr.Obama leaves the White house, and is replaced with another Reagan Democrat like himself, this time with a white face.
I'm just sure it will.

Typical ignorant Good ol' Boy attitude making it easy to validate the victim-mentality in the black culture and to project this idiotic worldview onto all white people "See! See! This is how white people really think!!". Similar to the extreme way of how certain western images are used as fodder for terrorist recruitment.

The black break rooms were trashed daily, and trash left everywhere, while the white break rooms were pristine. Everything from the tables to the insides of the microwaves to the pop machines functioning vs being kicked in...there was a big difference. This manager didn't want their lone functioning water fountain being kicked off the wall and being accused of running slow to keep the black man down, 'nowhaahmsayindawg?'Fark the Fark leftist, I've worked wit southern blacks. This manger wanted at least ONE working water fountain left in the plant that hadn't been destroyed by monkeys trying to figure out how a water fountain works.

This ought to generate about 50-100 more page hits... (-1 for mine)

It should generate a lot more than that. Here we have a real live time traveler who has arrived here straight from working in facilities with Jim Crow era segregated break rooms. I have a million questions for him/her.

Black people have to eat, too.  If your choices are to work in an industry traditionally associated with mistreating your ancestors, or go hungry, some people will swallow their pride and hope things have changed.

Oh well then, nothing more to see here. I guess those employees should consider themselves fortunate they weren't lynched, since it's no longer the owner's responsibility to have a decent workplace free from discrimination. I wasn't aware that you could subcontract shiat like that and instantly absolve yourself of any legal liability for anything the management you pay does.

Some articles are saying that the supervisor has been fired, which is a good thing.

But as best I can tell, all the articles just call him "the supervisor".  They should name the asshole so that people have a chance to know what kind of scum he is.

dustygrimp: Tetrazphere: Typical ignorant Good ol' Boy attitude making it easy to validate the victim-mentality in the black culture and to project this idiotic worldview onto all white people "See! See! This is how white people really think!!". Similar to the extreme way of how certain western images are used as fodder for terrorist recruitment or the way the right likes to paint all middle easterners as terrorists.

For those interested in real race relations progress, we can't just wait for these archaic Boss Hogg sounding fossils to be history for that progress to be made, there are always going to be these distractions on both sides. These worldviews don't just go extinct, they get transcended and made obsolete. It's going to take appropriate outrage on both sides in issues like this, whether it's a black or white incident from people who have a track record of continuity, regardless of race.

/conspiracy possibility- The 2 black guys may have got the idea a few weeks ago after the Donald Sterling debacle. Maybe set a relaxed tone and environment and subtly and jokingly brought up the issue around the known bigot, making it seem like they were interested and curious as to "how things used to be", and not offended so they could coax and create the perfect condition to tape record and file a lawsuit.

BSABSVR: RINO: ciberido: acad1228: JohnnyC: tjfly: Russ1642: I heard on Fox that racism had been eliminated in America.

I thought Obama eliminated racism.

No... Obama winning only showed that about 51% of the population (give or take) is probably not racist. A significant portion of the remaining 49% have been working very hard to be as racist as they can get away with since then. Some have been more 'successful' with that effort than others, obviously.

So... I'm racist since I didn't vote for Obama? Is that how that works?

No, but it's what some Republicans like to claim that Democrats think.  The original claim was that SOME of the people who voted against Obama did so because he was black, or at least that Obama's skin color was PART of the reason why SOME people voted against him.  But that was a little too low-key and hard to argue against, so folks got a bunch of straw and built "If you didn't vote for Obama, you're a racist!" to put in its place.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Jimmy Carter saying something along the lines of racism being the only reason for criticism of Obama.

You're wrong.

"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American,"

You're right, I was wrong. That's far more reasonable than what I misremembered.

I stood in line for 2 hours in 2008 to vote for Obama, but still get called a racist subtly or not when I hold the black culture accountable, express a disagreement with Obama or don't follow suit with the liberal point of view. I am automatically cataloged and labeled a republican racist.

The republican or democratic party do not represent my ideology or perspectives the vast majority of the time. But since my viewpoints don't consistently reflect and promote a liberal posture on all perspectives, I am assumed to be of non-progressive thinking type or worse comparable to old-fashioned bigots or hate groups.

Since pre-liberal thinking and post-liberal thinking are both non-liberal they are easily confused, and the easiest way to group non-liberal thinking is into the common pre-liberal conservative republicans, along with all their stereotypes.

There are unlimited ways to misrepresent any content because their are infinite number of contexts available in the post-modern world due to deconstruction. All it takes is a piece of information and a motive. Which is the standard make-up of many of the face value drive-by comments of a political nature.

That's actually a pretty significant one comment.  It's still YOUR WAREHOUSE.  The buck stops over there!

Does anyone have a buck schedule? The stops around here are unmarked and the timing appears entirely random.

In a thread about cotton, racism and slavery, perhaps "buck" isn't the best choice of words. Just sayin'.

Doubly so if it's immediately followed with the word "Wheat"

I was pretty farking clear and I left a lot of leeway in my statement on both sides... intentionally. Are you a part of the significant portion of the 49% that didn't vote for Obama who have been working very hard to be as racist as they can get away with since the election? If not, then why are you trying to be some kind of victim?

Hell... I even left it open that some of the people who DID vote for Obama could still be racist.

Philosopher's to developmental psychologist to social commentators etc.. collectively agree the term 'Integral' is appropriate. These thinkers tend to integrate knowledge into a cohesive multi-source informed whole. Reductionism in any forms is seen as an absence of perspective, like someone who studies evolutionary psychology for instance may see the entire world only in terms of that field, while ignoring the contributions of any of the other schools of thought.

It commonly entails utilizing the most encompassing framework available, not just in terms of size but also of depth. For instance not just being aware of the systems theory of the physical universe from preons to quarks and leptons to protons and neutrons to atoms to molecules all the way up to star systems, galaxies to super clusters etc..., but also of interior depth or subjectivity within individual and collective holons within the overall process.

it's very late but here's an integral map that charts human psychological developmental that is most pertinent to our political discussion. (if you're wondering about the factors involved, they are all bio-psycho-social.)

The main point to start from is what's under "Stages of development", your clever enough to get the gist of it and see the pattern at work.

For reference
Red- Typical Street gangs, Saddam, death before dishonor, egocentric, Lil Wayne
Blue- Traditional conservatives, fundies, Sean Hannity, by-the-book police departments, common military hierarchies,
blue to Orange-Bush 43
Orange- Wall Street, Hong Kong, Rush Limbaugh, industrial revolution, modern science, 'Jack' from 30 Rock
Orange to green - Bill O'reilly,
Green- typical liberalism, Al Gore, Tina Fey, Anderson Cooper, ACLU, freedom from dogma, equality, woodstock
Green to yellow-Obama (he's got his foot in the door but has not transcended green value meme yet)

2nd tier--- Radical Phase Shift
Yellow-Tony Blair's "Third-way" was an early version in politics, Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, Peter Senge's Organizations, chaos theory, a magnifence of existence emerges
Turquoise-David Bohm, Early Ken Wilber, Brian Swimme, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Gregory Stocke's 'Metaman', Gandhi's "pluralistic harmony", deep non-dogmatic spirituality is common, Steve Mcintosh, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's "Omega Point"

note...if you become conscious of your own evolution, you can undertake to not only speed it up, but direct it's emergence.
