Seriously, though, if you threaten someone with a gun, they're much more likely to scurry off instead of sticking around to care about the victim of the accident. So the sign isn't just dumb, it's counterproductive.

This here chair is early American Shaker. It was hand crafted by the finest furniture builders in our young country, using the finest wood available to them at the time. Might be Hickory. Who knows? It can hold a man without making so much a creak. It has been sat in for over 250 years. Go ahead. Sit in it. Tell me, do ya feel comfortable punk? Well do ya?

We don't have a picture of the sign in question, so let's just show a map of where he lives. What could possibly go wrong?

2014-06-03 11:42:11 PM
The odd part is that, if the cops come knocking on his door for putting that sign up, he'll whine that it's a violation of his 2nd Amendment rights, even though it would be more accurate to say that it's a violation of his 1st Amendment rights.

Either way, he'd be wrong.  Neither right is unlimited and you can't threaten people like that.

At 50mph, there's no way in going to be able to read that sign.

That's the natural response to a passive aggressive sign in the road.

On my street, supposedly it's a 20 zone, but there's no signs. When my oldest started driving, he claimed the limit was 30 One evening some neighbors came over, and told him their kids play in the street. I told them, "if you keep your kids out of the street, I won't drive through your yards".Yeah, kinda dickish, but it got them to stop. Especially the gal up the street who ran a supposed unlicensed day care. those kids riding bikes across the street, she had one of those little kid "slow" signs as well. I hit that thing a couple times on purpose. She put it back up, with  tread marks on that little kid. Good thing she moved 4 blocks away, to a single story house. Mortgage payments must have been too high. Good riddance.

There's no outlet to the area, and there's only one entryway and exit, Rovere said, but she routinely sees cars driving between 40 and 50 miles-per-hour.

About 30 to 40 kids live in the neighborhood, ranging from infants to high school students.

Gosh, I wonder who's doing all that speeding?

I'd be paying attention to my speedo if I was rolling through an area where you get shot for speeding.

/I call it driving on the highway, but if you're black the cops will shoot you anywhere.

I live on a short dead end street, one lane with parking on the street on one side, with little kids and tons of dogs, and two speed bumps. People still farking fly. The worst are the farkers on motorcycles. It's an all-but-abandoned town with a huge open area just next to it, with tons of room to ride. But, nope. Hafta speed down the one street where people live.

The houses are built practically on the street, too, so you're either on your porch or in the street.

I haven't seen the image in question but if it is as threatening as the article states it would probably fall under the category of fighting words, which are not protected speech.

Yeah, when the "Baby on Board" hype was active in the mid-80s my little brother bought one of those placards and reversed it.  On the back  he wrote; "No babies on board, go ahead and just smash right into me."

I still have it.

That sign is freaking awesome. Especially with the Austrian equivalent to our "Slow- children at play" signs...

It says, in German, underneath the village name of "F*cking," "Please- don't go so fast!"

When I was growing up we used to have a problem with people speeding through our neighborhood. Then someone put up some improvised speedbumps. That seemed to take care of the problem. I guess it's a bit of a shock to run over a tree branch in the middle of the road when you weren't expecting it, especially at high speed.

There's an intersection not far from my house where each of the four roads leading away has a sign that says "No Trucks".  So how does a truck get there to see the sign in the first place, and what is the truck supposed to do at that point?

//Not pertinent to the story, but a funny stupid sign story anyway.

Great idea.

Until you spike someone rushing daddy with severe chest pains to the ER and he arrests.  Or you spike an ambulance, fire truck, or patrol car and delay response to someone's emergency.

When that happens, get ready break out the check book.
