I'm hoping they go with an update of the old-school psychedelic feel, at least for this branch of the movie universe.  Marvel magic should make the drug scenes from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas look like Little House on the Prairie.

I'm excited because I love Strange, the only comic I read (nearly) everything published. I'm not so excited because I suspect it will be an origin story which I've read and see on screen many times. Hopefully it starts a movie franchise so some of the cool shiat can happen.

Nearly everyone and their dog knows the origin of Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman. I doubt that many know of Strange's origin

I'm really not too keen on a doctor strange movie.  Magic is difficult to define and set limits for and many marvel writers for strange have struggled to avoid having him just magic his problems away.  There has also been inconsistency in what he can do with his magic so I fear the movie will have these problems afflict it.  Oh well, good luck though.

Probably too reminiscent of Cap's origin but I'd also like to see him go looking for the Ancient One some time in the 60s(or before any robot-assisted surgery) and return to the world in present day.

But mainly I'll be happy if he starts out as a real son of a biatch

To the art direction team in charge of this movie: Steve Ditko's beautiful, psychedelic art is a hallmark of this character's story.  Ditko's vision of magic use and the astral world are forever linked (in my mind anyway) to what makes Dr Strange, so iconic.  Please, do this right and make it look like Ditko's work.  37.media.tumblr.com

That said, if James Hong is not the Ancient One then, you folks are doing it wrong.

Steve Ditko is one of the most underrated comicbook artists, ever.

'Nuff said.

From all I've read, it was Marvel, not Disney, that was asking for the changes. They wanted an Ant Man that would work in the cinematic universe. Wright's version apparently didn't. Disney has mostly just sat back, let Marvel do its thing, and raked in the mad cash. It's a winning formula for them so far, despite all the fanboy hand-wringing.

Hmmm... Doctor Strange deals with magic and the occult, so he should be played by someone fans could believe deals with demons and warlocks on a daily basis. And his actor needs to be able to throw down when necessary. It'd probably help if he had expertise in horror/supernatural movies. Of course, he needs to be arrogant, but charming. Very charismatic...

Ah, screw it! Just get Bruce Campbell. >.>

And funnily enough, since we're discussing Strange and Ant-Man in this thread, a GIS for him turns up this:

I'm waiting for Dormammu and Eternity, two favorite bizarre conceptual Marvel characters. Nobody did "cosmic" like late 60s marvel. And yep -- Ditko is one the best comic artists ever, even if he, well, went full Rand as the 60s progressed.
