That's because the LA Kings fan can only buy so many tickets. I wonder how many people buy King's tickets thinking they are going to an NBA game.

Cost less than the Super Bowl and there will be three games. Game 6 could get up to $5000 if the Rangers have a chance to close it out.

2014-06-03 02:17:30 PM
Yep. Was willing to spend $2k and fly up and got priced out before the Trophy was even awarded.

More money for the market I guess.

*looks at Wall St.*

More money in a black hole, I guess.

Always good when you price out the real fans and get a bunch of rich numpties in the seats with no idea of
what's going on.

Thank you for your support of a Ranger sweep in four, but I think we'll probably go six.

Can't blame LA fans for not supporting their team or knowing much about hockey. They keep showing up for the 4th quarter of Kings games and can't figure out why the arena is empty.

Also..

Carcillo suspension reduced to 6 games by the Berg-man himself.

Eligible for return in Game 4.

This happened in 2008 and 2009. It was cheaper to drive to Detroit and buy tickets for face value than it was to pay a scalper for tickets at the Igloo.

Did it get this bad? $1200+ for back row nosebleeds?

Probably not. Pittsburgh and Detroit have significantly lower costs of living than NY/LA. We got face value tickets at JLA for $200 apiece (which I still think is inordinately expensive, but when's the next time I'm going to go to a Stanley Cup Final?).

My cousin obtained playoff tickets by virtue of being a season ticket holder.

She paid $260 each for section 2xx, I forget where exactly.

Selling for $2,500 each. She's got at least 1 buyer lined up and is still taking offers last I heard.

Two seats x 2 (possibly 3) games.

I hate her. If only I could make $11,000 that fast.........

I understand the money is tempting, but she better go to at least one of them or else she's part of the problem.

I'd do the same. No chance of elimination in Game 3 should things go poorly.

But wouldn't it be wise to hold onto those tickets for Game 4 if the teams split the first two?  That means seeing 2 games without a chance of elimination.  And if the Rangers are down 0-2 heading back to New York, there's still plenty of time to sell the tickets.

Selling Game 4 is just dumb. You sell Game 3 and go to Game 4. Game 4 actually has a slight potential of a Cup ceremony at the end of it.

/and then you get to boo the commissioner

But if the rags are up 3-0 going into game 4, and she is even a casual rags fan (read: can name Messier, Gretsky and Leetch), she is going to want to go to that.

Anyway, good luck rags fans. If they win, do try not to act like you were right all along...who am I kidding, I'm already getting that nonsense.

Oh, that's cute, but the team is still going to the finals.
In other cities, they have all these knowledgeable, hard core fans who eat, breathe and sleep their team, and their season is over in April.
Yes, L.A. is full or fruits and nuts, fair weather fans, bandwagon dwellers etc, and your teams got beat by the Kings left and right, up and down, slapped silly. Now what does it say about you and your team?

Yeah, often I will quote someone to agree with them and add something to their argument. Occasionally people will then argue with my agreement with them - it's pretty funny.

Selling your tickets is a gamble... Sell them too early and you could miss out on possibly a really high demand. He onto them and you could see what happened in Chicago last week, where brokers couldn't give away tickets to game 5 (bc everyone in Chicago had written the Blackhawks off)

If I shelled out for season tickets to my favorite team, I'd probably just go.

2014-06-04 09:05:00 AM
This probably goes hand in hand with this chart from the ratings for the Game 7....

Following are the Top 10 markets for Kings-Blackhawks Game 7:
Rank Market Rating
1 Chicago 22.7
2 Buffalo 7.3
3 Los Angeles 4.8
4 Minn-St. Paul 4.3
5 Boston 3.9
6 San Diego 3.8
6 Pittsburgh 3.8
6 Milwaukee 3.8
9 New York 3.7
10 Providence 3.5

NBC was REALLY wishing Chicago had won game 7.
