I'm not a Trek fan, but I loved JJ's ST films.

I'm really excited about the next trilogy.

Be cooler if the Ebon Hawk showed up. Just sayin'.

What the hell is an 'Aluminum Falcon'?!

...Parsecs is a distance.

2014-06-03 09:40:57 AM
Well, it appears to be some kind of Corellian freighter but we don't know for *sure* do we?!

2014-06-03 09:54:25 AM
Yes, but how long did it take to measure?

2014-06-03 10:22:50 AM
Good to see they're using models and not just CGI.

I recall reading somewhere in the EU that the reason Solo is proud of doing the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs is that the route skirts the edge of a black hole. The faster you can go, the closer you can get to the black hole without getting pulled in and thus the total distance traveled is shorter. He's basically bragging that he can take a shorter line along a given course than other freighters.

2014-06-03 10:29:15 AM
This headline confuses me.

2014-06-03 10:30:20 AM
Wow, someone's making some cash.

The Falcon isn't really a surprise though, right? Kind of a package deal when bringing Han Solo back.

HOLY CRAP.

I want to care about the new Star Wars films, I really do.

I. Just. Don't. Care. Any. More.

My mind has been saturated with the Universe and even new stories are just not new enough to keep me interested.

Possible spoilers:

They are most likely going to kill Luke or Han, with Luke standing the best chance at dying because it would follow the previously established pattern e.g., Qui-Gon/Kenobi Luke/Kenobi..a master dies at the beginning of a new trilogy.

My guess would be Han.  Ford wanted Han to be killed off at the end of Jedi and the rumor is that his role in this new film is major.

In a parallel universe, we're all complaining that not having the Falcon in part VII is asinine because having Han Solo and the Falcon are a package deal.

They could have easily gone the 'tarded "we decided Han needed a new ship for the new trilogy" route. Be thankful! ;)

That's not a retcon.  A retcon is  retroactive continuity, and means to change what had previously occurred in the story or series (generally retcons only occur in series). You saw one thing occur, but this new story says  something else occurred.   The explanation offered for Solo's comment doesn't change the story, it just explains that comment.

I have a feeling JJ and co. are going to play it safe and try to anticipate what fans want to see. That will include rehashing characters, places, quotes and other things from the previous movies. Instead, they should get the GoT show writers to write the script because those guys would play against expectations, e.g. killing Han and destroying the Falcon in the opening scene.

There are museums in the Star Wars universe? Aren't they always at war? Who has time to go to a museum in that galaxy, what with everyone being a scoundrel of some kind?

The real shocker would be to see the galaxy actually at peace, with decent people running around who weren't the main characters.

It almost looks like a Z-95 headhunter, but those don't have 4 laser cannons, only 3.

I'm ok with that. I envisioned that after all these years, it would no longer be running regularly and that a scene having the Falcon roar back to life would be awesome. That's all I need.

Give me that and a scene where Han shoots first and all will be right with the Star Wars universe.

Why do you want Star Wars VII to be boring for 118 minutes and cool for only 2?

Not trying to offend anyone, but Cones of Dunshire is the worst show that everyone loves that I have ever seen. I tried to like it, but it's boring. Very. Boring. Nope, the cool parts do not make up for it.

Hmmm. Now I'm wondering if one could produce little stickmen decals which are clearly identifiable as Star Wars characters, but not so clearly that they would constitute copyright infringement. Mom with Leia's buns 'do, dad with a vest and mailman pants, maybe a dog that looks like a walking carpet...

I had a friend who refused to see the prequels because "it's not Star Wars without Han Solo."

The Falcon was held together with duct tape and gum in the original trilogy.  30 years on it has to be in bad condition.  Even a classic car that is well maintained is not going to be a daily driver 70 years into its life.

Whatthefark: Good to see they're using models and not just CGI.

You do know that they built full size Naboo Starfighters for Episode I, full-size Jedi Starfighters for Episode II and different full-size Jedi Starfighters for Episode III, right?

Looks more like the Ralph McQuarrie concept X-wing.
