You say, what are all those little spots?

Parasites.

Have fun in Brazil.

so THAT is to explain the collective Stupidity in 'murica.  i wondered for the longest time why so much BS goes on in this Nation.

Actually, a sure sign of stupidity is someone who bastardizes the word America like you do.

1)when Fascism comes to America, it'll be carrying a bible and wrapped in the American Flag.

2)Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.

Wicked Chinchilla: Linux_Yes: more fear mongering.

the U.S. is a salad bowl of folks from all over the world.

doctors need more money.  give them your money.

No.
Its a legit concern.  Dengue Fever.  Chickungunya.  Those are two for which their actually aren't vaccinations.  Then you have yellow fever, typhoid, malaria etc. and the health concerns are real.  But its not anything new, per se.  Prudent travelers have ALWAYS been aware of various health risks/threats to which they are not accustomed before going to exotic locales.

You mean like--outside Mom's basement?

If you call anyone a diseased whore in Brazil, someone will probably kill you.

Half the diseases mentioned here are not a problem in urban areas that are wealthy. Most if the other half can be solved by following rules of hygiene while abroad and even at home and vaccines.

You don't need typhoid vaccine. You do need hep a and b.

Yellow fever for paperwork reasons, not actual reasons.

What you should do, is not go. Your tourist dollars and the whole world cup benefit only the wealthy, the sponsors, the sport and a government so corrupt you can't imagine.

Stay home.

The poor, who make up the majority, will get nothing and money that could have been used for schools, hospitals, infrastructure, housing and access to basic human rights was squandered and stolen and used for this obscene display.

ameeriklane: Just got my Yellow Fever vaccine this weekend. Plan to get Typhoid vaccine this week, though seems like typhoid can be avoided by eating and drinking carefully. Headed to Brazil in about a week.

/have tickets for 4 WC matches

See you there!

In the past month I got vaccinations for:
TDAP (Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis)
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Yellow Fever
Hep A
Hep B
Typhoid (pills of attenuated tyhoid bugs for that one)
and then the doc is shipping us off with a pack of Cipro and the anti Malaria pills for when we go to Manaus.

/We're going to bathe in DEET and soak our clothes in permethrin for the dengue and chikunguya, no vaccines for those.
//Why yes, we *are* bringing mosquito nets...

airsupport: the slums are unspeakable. Do not be fooled by stories or photos in the media. Minimum wage levels are so low it may as well be indentured servitude. Public healthcare only exists in name. Corruption is so engrained, so massive, to deep that it defies description. Public sanitation is a joke. Public schools are a farce. The people who live on the ghettos (a paradise), the favelas (pure unforgiving hell on earth) and worst of all, the street outnumber the rest of city dwellers by far. However a brutal and murderous police force keeps them in check violently and without mercy under the guise of crime control.

Speaking of which, the police are worse than the criminals and have impunity.

Voting is compulsory. A vote can be bought for a bag of rice, or a menial job that pays five dollars a day. The majority can only think of their next meal, not next year.

The World Cup is an obscenity. By all means, come to Brazil, but not to enrich the rich who could not care less that a mother of three has to step over an open sewer to reach a horrible part of town. All so she can take a 3 hour bus and train ride to clean toilets and her children suffer the lack of even the mist basic rights.

I love Brazil and the people here. The mother I describe is one of my best friends. I have been to her home and stepped over the open sewer...

10 billion was was stolen from the people spent on this nonsense and when it is done, my friend will still be stepping over an open sewer and working for slave wages in a country where the filling class does not care, unless the media or a foreign government is looking.

Come, but not got the Olympics or the Cup.

Come, and let your dollars make a difference. The money you spent on the ticket for the game, could feed a family of four for a month.

They will get nothing, unless you give it to them directly.

That should read rulling class, not filling class. It's been a long day.
