I'm glad he's back; but, I guarantee he's a sleeper/Manchurian candidate.

Either way, he's gonna get slandered by the GOP and their minions

We'll get far more out of the GPS chips implanted in the brains/asses of the Gitmo prisoners than the Taliban will get out of Berghazi. Next time we should trade some Republicans, though.

Even if he is a manchurian candidate, it's not like he'll get past the primaries.

Strange who all the neanderthals calling Barak HUSSEIN Obama a traitor think this guy is some kind of martyred saint:

Oh, very sneaky! Of course, we'd do it; then we'd overlook the fact that the battery only lasts a week or three. We'd have to trade them something they wanted; I doubt they'd be into pasty white dudes, nttawwt. Maybe, we can give them soccer balls; they really seem to enjoy soccer.

No worries, the device is powered by urine. The only trick is to hope the piss-drinking fetish they implanted works as expected.

I could probably pull off celebrating Christmas every year, but damned if I could figure out when Easter was every spring. I'd end up just asking for boiled eggs from March through May, just in case.

I wouldn't want to upset my egg god.

Bear Grylls was captured by the Taliban?

Yeah, once they get you bowing to Mecca 5 times a day I am sure they are real nice to you. This guy probably has wicked Kabul Syndrome, especially since it sounded like he was already disillusioned and looking for meaning to his life when he allegedly deserted.

/if he did desert, and people actually did die looking for him, a cozy cell in Leavenworth should have his name on it.

Penalty for desertion is still firing squad IIRC.

Saw something on TV in the break room today that an intercept exists of the Taliban telling some other Taliban that they surprised him while he was taking a dump.  Don't know if he deserted and then took a dump, but he may have just been a dummy, or a man with a spastic colon.

2014-06-02 08:48:59 PM
This guy just has to be interesting after his experiences with the Taliban. After five years, I bet he viewed a few of them with respect or kindness. Just like I bet there's some fighters in gitmo who now get along with some Marines. That sort of bridging can breed understanding even among "enemies."

I don't think the administration would give up 5 detainees from Guantanamo just to bring the guy back to ice him.
I secretly am hoping that they implanted GPS trackers, or have people tracking the guys they release, and then wait for them to make any sort of move, and than BAM!!

Drone strike up the anus.

There were reports he asked about joining the taliban after he walked off his post, and before he deserted (I'll use that word, I'm not a martial court - it's my opinion) he talked about walking to Pakistan or India.

Soldiers lost their lives trying to get him back, and we released 5 enemy combatants the taliban wanted back, badly, to get this guy. He should do more than break rocks - if he is found guilty of desertion, he should also be found guilty of treason for contributing to those deaths and hang.

Get him to light up and pee on a couple of Qurans. Just to be sure.

All those magnetic ribbons told me to support the troops.

Except for this guy it seems.  Fark this guy, because reasons.

It's all very confusing.

I was going to say something similar, that these guys have to be Trojan horses of some sort (GPS chip in the ass, bomb in the ass like in 'Man on Fire', asymptomatic carriers, plain ol' sell-outs, reprogrammed sleeper agents or some other clandestine CIA Rube Goldberg contraption). Then again, maybe none of the above.

Do you have a better name for the process of helping someone get used to life in the US after being a captive in the Middle East for 5 years? It takes some getting used to even after only 6 months of living on an American base.

Please stop repeating this lie. The deaths of those 6 soldiers had absolutely nothing to do with Bergdahl, and to use them to make a point is a disgrace to their memories.

It isn't the GOP and their minions, it's the guys who served with him.  CNN (not Faux News) is even reporting that the members of his unit that are willing to violate their NDAs are saying he deserted.

Could have been worse.

He could have finished his tour, come back PTSD, and gone on a killing spree.

Cos that happens.

IF i say IF he deserted he wasn't asking anyone to look for him. that was on the brass. this rolling stone article from june 2012 is pretty interesting. looks like your typical FUBAR army moves. yes people looked and yes people died but remember correlation does not equal causation.

i saw an 18 y/o kid get killed in training but no one would say we shouldn't train.

No, that isn't on the brass, it is squarely on him (also, I want to reiterate the 'if' here).

I completely disagree. If he deserted, the Army doesn't know why. They don't know if he had a contact helping to convince him to desert because he was a misguided kid that could be used as a bargaining chip. They don't know if he had somehow gotten his hands on sensitive information that he smuggled out of his base, perhaps containing information on informants, planned patrols. If I walk out of my house into the national forest and don't tell anyone where I am going, or why, or for how long, eventually someone will come looking for me.

And if someone gets hurt, it wouldn't matter that I didn't want to be found. Their injury or death would be my fault.

No offense, but go dig in the other thread. I already did the research and don't feel like doing it again, and I've yet to see an actual article that compiled everything I found into one article.

Long story short, two were killed protecting a polling place, one was killed taking back a hospital(or maybe it was one and two), and the other three died from roadside IEDS. Most of their deaths were also several months after he left, and did not match up time-wise with known sightings/videos of Bergdahl.

Not only that, but as best I can tell, the idea they died looking for him was started by the NY Post, repeated by the Moonie Times, then picked up by the blogging community, then the Daily Fail and Fox.

interviews take time to set up....but they seem to be incoming.

And its not just one soldier or two who served with him saying this.
