Red Cinnabar (HgS), iron oxide (Fe2O3), Cadmium red (CdSe)

Well, mercury and cadmium on their own are known to be toxic, and I doubt that cinnabar is inert. I wouldn't be surprised if cadmium selenide is toxic too.

The wikis say that cinnabar is toxic, and Cadmium selenide is carcinogenic.

Women without tats are HOT.  I went to a strip club this weekend and hoped to see one.  I didn't.

When I worked as a tattoo apprentice I learned that apparently you only buy red ink from very reputable sellers as it was not uncommon to get red ink that would always cause a bad reaction and subsequent infection.

Years back I read that the majority of black inks were made using carbon from the cheapest available source: burnt animals bones, leftover from slaughter. Made the fact that an acquaintance of mine had "VEGAN" tattooed on her inside lip even more hilarious.

Huh. Does the UK also have a regulatory agency called the FDA? 'Cause this .co.uk site seems to only cite the FDA's statement when discussing its concerned about lack of regulation.

Everybody bums off FDA safety studies, unless they have a company that can't compete with a US corporation, then the FDA is lying about the safety and only the home-country's company's product is safe.

I've never been fond of tats, but I always figured to each his own.  Until, that is, women started getting them on a widespread basis.  That's where things have really gone downhill.  Sorry, tattoos never increase attractiveness, and depending on the location, quantity and quality, can seriously decrease it.

I look at the industry as I would any other. This industry features very low formal barriers to enter, provides a service for cash and doesnt provide ongoing maintenance to a product. So a tattoo parlor pops up in a formerly empty space and I'm suppose to act like their saving the small business? Fark that noise, let it sit empty till a real businessman finds a use for it, not a (marginally) cleaned up carny looking to separate the mark from his moolah.
