"Obama is coming for your guns" is some of the best marketing the firearms industry has ever come up with.

Yes, nothing says "responsible gun owner" like hiding guns randomly around the office.

If the government is coming for your guns, they'll wait until you take them out and use them.  Then remove them from you cold, dead hands.

If he's coming for our guns, he's doing a piss-poor job of it.  He's been trying for 6 years now (11 if he uses his magic time machine.)

FTA: The tank of the toilet is a viable (though not ideal) back-up option for storage-just make sure the handgun is double (or triple) wrapped to avoid any moisture coming into contact with your gun or ammo.

I think I've seen this in every cheesy "smart-ass cop who doesn't play by the rules" movie.  I'm pretty sure it's one of the first places the ATF would look.

Ah Frogman. He has Fatigue syndrome so he can't hold down a steady job so he tries to make money through humor artwork. This is one of them and it shows why he doesn't have a gun. http://thefrogman.me/tagged/frogman+original

Go Fast Turn Left: "Obama is coming for your guns" is some of the best marketing the firearms industry has ever come up with.

Except they didn't really come up with it:

http://change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy_agenda

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

All they did was take him at his word.

Turns out, he's really, really ineffective at gun control.  Or, perhaps, not willing to spend the political capital like Bill Clinton did, and then suffer the political consequences for his party.

I tend to think the latter is true:  For his entire first term, he was pretty quiet on the subject because he knew it was a political loser, and after all, he wanted a second term.  It wouldn't have been smart to give his opponents ammunition, so to speak.  I even noted this on Fark in 2011:

http://www.fark.com/comments/6767612/73315708#c73315708

Either way, though, he's a useful boogeyman for both the NRA and the firearms industry (which, btw, are two separate entities that don't always agree).

This is also known as "Beretta's list of where to search for no-longer-legal firearms".

Just sayin.

Call me old fashioned, but I remember a time when anyone who thought it was their constitutional and/or god given right to bring a firearm into a casual dining establishment would have been called crazy.

FTA Whenever drywall work presents itself, you have the opportunity to hide a handgun before sealing up any holes... To retrieve the gun, just put your fist through the patch and grab.

Awesome.

Aren't guns kind of expensive to just seal up in a wall?

2014-06-02 08:58:01 AM
Isn't publishing a guide for where to hide your guns a good way for police to find where you have hidden your guns?

2014-06-02 08:59:07 AM
I have a couple a guns loosely duct taped to the ceiling in each room of my house. The criminals won't look up there and when they say "put your hands up!" I'll be happy to oblige! Every once in a while one falls down but I always get to it before the kids, it's a tight race, but I'm not worried.

Ask any gun owner, it is not the guns he is coming for it is the ammo.

The gun owners are making that expensive anyway.  I'd shoot you, but you ain't worth a $25 bullet.

EvilEgg: Aren't guns kind of expensive to just seal up in a wall?

That depends upon your income.  There are a good number of sub-$200 guns out there.  More to the point is the level of paranoia, and thinking that When They Come, you're going to have time to retrieve one of your hidden pieces and clear it of grime and spiders.

I hope that I am never in the situation where I have to grab a gun out of my freezer to defend myself.

How does such a situation even arise?

"Oh well I was in my kitchen getting some ice cream and a group of gang members attacked me from behind. Luckily I had a glock in a freezer bag so I was able to save the day"

*glock pops

Ah, the American economy. Spend a fortune manufacturing guns just so you can bury them in the ground.

Because freedom.

Seriously? If you live somewhere where this is legitimately necessary, just move. Leave. Put your necessities in a truck and flee.

This.  Chris Rock had it right: when bullets cost $1000 a piece, ain't nobody going to go through that to shoot someone.

Once you make ammo scarce, gun control isn't necessary. If no one can get ammo, then the thing's just a fancy mechanical paperweight.

Maybe we could switch to just AIrsofting each other?

With the price of ammo these days, if you can even find it, may as well seal it up in a wall because you sure as hell ain't gonna be shooting it.

/ thanks Obama

I found that letting people assume you have guns hidden in your office has all the benefits of having a gun stash without all the carpentry.

yes...sales are through the roof, and you have to search for, and pay a premium for, certain ammo

kinda glad i don't own a gun. too much stress.

Yea, the biggest most reasonable fears today ought to stay to the tried and true ones like CO2, vaccines, and George Zimmerman.

It would be just like me to seal it up and forget to put ammo with it.

Funny, I had the opposite problem; I keep hearing about the guys who tried carrying AR-15s into restaurants to prove a point and being told that if they can't do that, that's step 1 on the way to Obama taking all our guns and making us slaves to the government.

I wish I was making this up. It's sad some days
