Are these the girls he lured into the back of his van because I can't see a girl getting voluntarily spending enough time with him to watch the video.

that's the only thing he's shown to girls.

It's his penis, isn't it? The VHS tape is just a euphemism for his penis. I watch my own more than once a month, though.

I want to ask if he still masturbates to it, but I suspect I already know the answer.

I have the tape in question. I watched it once when I got it as a kid (I was like 12 or something).  Never again.  It was bad even in its day, much less now.

How can a VHS tape stand up to that much use?  It must be all static when he plays it now.

Now I'm not casting stones but I would think watching a tape once a month for 20 years is better than hating a tape, watching it once, then holding onto it for 20 years like some sort of voodoo talisman of hatred towards Hollywood.

/Why, yes, I still have my VHS copy of Shag the Movie. I'm waiting for a VCR renaissance.

I bet you could sell it to this guy...you know he needs some backup copies.

You'd be amazed. I have a copy of "House of Wax" on VHS that's been open and watched off and on for 20 years or more, and the picture looks as if it's new, sounds fine as well.

Unless you're using a bargain basement or ancient VCR and the tape was not made by "Goodtimes", you'll have good times.

A 1990 official VHS copy of Star Wars is looking a bit rough on the top part of the screen (rewinding), yet the soundtrack is nearly immaculate.

TFA made me realize that my solitary life with all its quirks does not make me as sad/weird as this guy.

if I'm not mistaken, i believe this movie was made in hyper-realism.  a revolutionary new filming process that... made everything look worse?

That goes double for DVDs. I can't stand when Netflix sends me one and the schmuck before didn't rewind it.

Even if the tape lived that long, I'm surprised the VCR itself didn't kill it.

I gave up on VHS after player after play just kept eating my tapes.

I do this.  Not once a month though, maybe once or twice a year with Mr. T: Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool.  I have 5 copies.  At one point I had 10, but I started giving them away as Christmas presents.

I have that board game, found it at a yard sale. I have that tape. Never watched it as I bought the game well after we got rid of the VCR.

Is this guy married?

This is important, because the answer will determine if I kill myself.

OK, so I watched the sequel through the link in TFA, and while it's painfully hokey, it's also strangely compelling. The effects are terrible, but at the same time, they are rather sophisticated for a small budget operation at the time. It's almost got eh bad-on-purpose vibe.

When you masturbate to porn, shooting your load into the VCR doesn't make it appear on the porn star's boobies.

Just an FYI.

I used to have a tape of Local Forecast clips from the Weather Channel circa 1993-94 which I recorded in high school. I was mostly interested in the cheesy smooth jazz they played in the background. I finally threw it away because I no longer had a VCR, but there are tons of people who would pay me a wad of cash for it today. There are people who dig through YouTube looking for these clips. A whole community of them. It makes me feel less weird. Well, no it really doesn't, but... well, anyway.

LOL, watching the video(found it at the bottom of TFA), the audio is just distorted enough that every sibilant the DM guy speaks, eh sounds like Daffy Duck.

I had this board game. I haven't watched the tape since day one of owning it, and it's long since gone now. Even if I did have it, I don't have a VCR anymore.

I miss TSR. WOTC and Hasbro can suck my balls.

I still have DragonStrike.  Don't have the VHS though.  Almost wish I did after reading this.

If you're wanting HeroQuest, your best bet is to find some partials on Ebay, then make a set by piecing it together.  That's what I had to do last year.  I got my boys a set for Christmas that we'll bust out and play on Sunday afternoons sometimes.  A full set of HeroQuest can go somewhere between 80 bucks for a full one in good condition to around 300 bucks for an unopened one.  I got two different partial sets and a few extras it was missing for about $50 altogether.

There's a pretty decent rendition of Heroquest on Android called Arcane Quest.
