umm we've had Mustang cop cars here for a long time now.

the latest trend is the challenger

but I prefer the old Trans Ams and GTOs back in the 70's.

FTFA:

Meanwhile the fastest police cars in Australia today are the supercharged HSV GTS and Ford Falcon GT in the custody of NSW Police. However, funded by the Motor Accidents Authority, they are mostly used in static displays for road safety campaigns at public events, rather than regular highway patrol work.
/Great use of funds there...

Might want to look it up before throwing stones, almost every major metropolitan force has a 'display' car of some type that they only trot out for motor shows or take to high schools to convince the preteen girls cops really are cool, etc.

Yah.
Just did a GIS for Dubai Police Car.

Was interesting, to say the least.

Never understood that.
My understanding was that the cars were donated to the force.
So now you have branded SLRs, Ferraris and Mercs.

My reaction was always, "ok, now what?"

I've heard of stuff like this done in Monaco (or Monte Carlo) and Switzerland.

/missing the point, please enlighten.

You need to quit driving on the wrong side of the road. The cops will nick you for that... ;^)

I always thought the phrase was "IN the cards"? Is this an Aussie thing?

Gyrfalcon: Someone get the Lord Humungous on the horn.

One of the more surreal moments in anime for me was the end of an episode of this one magical girl series.  Now, that's normally not my thing, but it had a huge entry on imfdb which was... curious.  A list of firearms a mile long in a show like that makes one take notice, doesn't mesh with preconceptions.  Then I read about the series and how deeply it was influenced by Goethe and the general way it deconstructed the way those shows normally go, and it piqued my curiosity enough to give it a watch.

Still did not prepare me for:

media.animevice.com

So to answer your question, if you want to find The Humongous, you have to find some dying magical girls and the asshole rabbit cat thing that hangs out around them.

You know, I used to say the same thing about Mustangs.  But my girlfriend has one of the new ones, and I'll be damned if that thing won't go around a corner like it's farking glued to the asphalt.  With the suspension set in sport mode it actually handles well enough to impress me.  And that's not easy given that I've got a bookcase full of trophies and a couple decades of experience driving purpose built race vehicles.

There's some country in SE Asia--I want to say Thailand, but I'm probably wrong--where they use what looks like early 1980's Honda Civics for their cop cars. I saw this one episode of some cop video show where they arrested some poor sap, cuffed him, and then opened up the hatchback and just stuffed him behind the seat of this two-door subcompact and zoomed away. And they were GOOD at it, like they did this all the time.

So you can, in fact, take prisoners with a 2-door...frightening as that may be.

So they put him in a part of the police car with a door which he couldn't open from the inside. How unusual.
