Perfectly legal, but kind of a dick move.I've seen that in both club rugby and club hockey. It really is a major dick move, and I can't believe there's never been an argument for changing the rules to keep that from happening. For instance, playing in a minimum number of games, or having a record of an injury that would have kept you from competing in the minimum number of games. When I was younger, an A-level travel hockey team I was on played in the quarterfinals of our league tournament against another A-level team, who just so happened to have half the roster made up of kids from their AA-level team. Turns out that they really wanted to win that tournament (they were something like last or second from the bottom of the league). Luckily there was a rule against doing what they did.
