More of a sail guy, but, that thing puts the capital S on Sleek.  I wonder how long it takes to build something like that?

This is good, solid comedy, but I suspect that insurance or the boat builder will have to pay for this.

Various, up to 40', but, we were renting them.  Lake Michigan and Florida, took some blue water classes.  I, and 3 other friends were in our 30's and unmarried.  The sailing came to an end when, one by one, we all got married, and 3 of us had kids.  I had twins at 44, so my sailing days were over, whether I liked it or not.  Oldest step-daughter is marrying a guy who does a lot of racing on Lake Michigan.  Of course, this guy is OK in my book.

Are you sailing at this moment or are you living on your boat?  If you're sailing, color me envious,

shanteyman: Anacortes is in Washington state. Sucks for the guys that own the yard, sure hope they were properly insured.

Shoot, I saw North Harbor and boat launch and immediately thought Maine. I guess every state with a coastline probably has a North Harbor.

"Hold my vino and watch this!"

Later: "Help me, I fall into the lifeboat....again!"

Primum non nocere: I'm a boating enthusiast, and that video was sad to see. I have a 30' foot day cruiser. I'm older, worked all my life, been fortunate, played by the rules, and have paid over a $1M in taxes over the last decade. When I see larger vessels than my own, I'm not envious. If the owner played by the rules, good for him. If he didn't, I hope he get's busted.

So does subby hope my modest cruiser capsizes? If Yes, fark you. If No, at what length overall (LOA) do you start with tiny violins? 40 feet? 50 feet? 60 feet? 70 feet? 80 feet?

About 30 seconds after the first idiot came up with the Fark Independent bit.

So you admit that you are an asshole lacking in any creativity.  At least you are finally being honest.

zimbomba63: Headso: you can watch a thousand videos of poor people having some misfortune that happens to be funny and we all, rightfully so laugh at it and make comments specific to the action in the video but some rich guy has his boat capsize and people gotta rush in and tell everyone they should feel bad for making fun of the guy's situation, seek help gunga din.

The rich guy isn't out anything, the shipbuilder is on the spot for this.  These things aren't that hard to understand.  You gloat in vain, dumbass.

Oh, but you can bet he was super pissed about it and running around screaming like his first born had been killed.  Nope, it's funny as hell.

Creativity is unnecessary when dealing with farkwits like you.

Ditto.  As headso says, if you can laugh at a poor idiot when something shiatty happens, why can you not laugh at a rich one?

I think just about everyone has laughed when someone faceplants and potentially injures their body.  I would rather lose my boat than my neck.

I was at work, but sailing in my mind. The boat is a hobby, my only hobby, really. I had to choose between the boat and music and the boat won out. I'm not so sure it was the best idea in terms of money spent, but, when I get out on Sundays or Thursdays ( when I'm not called in ), it is a very zen experience for me. My wife has finally started to go with me ; I'm hoping to win her over to the idea of buying up and moving aboard for a few years when we retire, if that ever gets to happen. I've a got a bucket list of sailing a mile long, too many things to do, not enough time .

Yeah, that's the way I feel about it, too.  Instead of laying on the beach zoned out, being on a boat gave you something to refresh your mind.  All the day-to-day crap went out the window, and when on the water you where completely "in the moment", as they say.  Your hands and mind where always busy, but, it all brought peaceful clarity. Plot the course, watch the tell-tales, check the chart, check the wind, watch the boat to port, re-check the chart, etc., etc.  It may sound like to much busy work to those who have never done, but, you feel like you've become one with the wind and water, and it bring serenity.

I'd rather be out on my boat than just about anywhere else.  The only drawback is that my wife hates being on the water, so I go alone more than I should.  So far it hasn't landed me in the newspaper as a "missing boater," thank goodness.
