I watched the first season and enjoyed the first 5 eps.
After that it kinda got more hokey than scary.
I'll probably still watch the second season.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus I heard: starts out great, goes off the rails near the ned.

Then again, it is based on a novel by the master of the deus ex machina.

So if I watched the first 3 episodes and couldn't get into it, there isn't a lot of hope that watching more will make me like it?

No, no one should be watching this show unless it's for the unintended comedic value.

It was a cool concept that started out mediocre and just progressed to new levels of shiat week after week.

Not even a novel. It's a short story.
I liked the concept and the 1st month of the show. But, it should have ended after 5 eps.

This would have been a great idea for an anthology series.
They could have done "Under The Dome"
Then "Darkness at the Edge of Town"

With each mini season following the concept of isolation and it's effects.
Instead they wasted a terrific opportunity.

The dome lasts a short period in the book, they are stretching it out in the tv show to be months if not more.

Steven King mini-series summation. Interesting idea peppered with what at first glance appear to be interesting characters starts to crumble under the weight of poor casting, cheapest possible directing options, weird to  bad acting, and completely implodes before an inane resolution.

It did get hokey towards the end, these three aren't bad to watch though...

King wrote the first episode for the season just like he did the pilot. We'll see what he does with it. :)

So much THIS. That show was so godawful. The few episodes I watched were painful. Plus the huge deviations from the book irked the shiat out of me, too.

Under the Dome has... hands down... the worst acting and some of the worst writing I've seen on TV since sitcoms in the 80s.

It's kind of a cool premise that was thrown down, kicked, and urinated upon by acting that would be considered embarrassingly poor in a small town retirement home's production of Grease. Literally every statement and action from any show character is either completely contrived and implausible, or would be the behavior of someone with a grave mental deficiency in the real world.

Seriously, everyone involved with writing and performing that show should be sealed in a salt cave, deep, deep underground.

I see it very similar to Heroes (season 1 finale onward).  It is so incredibly bad, with ridiculous levels of plot-contrived character stupidity and horrible acting/writing, that it becomes a comedy.

I watched the first season to completion. It was pretty awful, the only reason i was on board was because i thought it was going to be a one and done miniseries. When i found out 2 eps from the end there was a second season i was really pissed, wont be watching it again

There was more than one season of Heroes?

The book was a bloated, ham-fisted satire of the Bush administration done two years too late to have any sort of bite to it.  And the ending was almost as bad as the prepubescent-teen-gangbang-saves-the-town at the end of IT.  I can't imagine slogging through a TV show about it.

The acting is pretty bad in most cases, but the story moves a lot quicker than most of these drawn out mystery plot shows (I'm looking right at you, Resurrection).

Whoa whoa whoa, Brian K Vaugh is writing for Under the Dome? Becuse basically everything he's done is gold to me. Except Pride of Baghdad, which was meh.

I may have to check the series out for that alone...

Yeah, I stopped reading when he said the psycho son was one of the best actors on any show on television.

How much is ABC paying that shill? Or are they holding their family hostage? He wasn't even the best actor on that show (as if you could actually apply the word 'best' to anything on that show). He's playing an unhinged psychopath like Joker from the Dark Knight, except everyone around him is acting like he's just a normal teenage boy.

I watched the first few episodes, then I kept watching, but skipped over scenes with characters I didn't give a damn about, then I just gave up altogether.

I tried with this show, because I enjoyed the book. But I gave up after a few episodes, because I found a lot of the acting to be poor, which is the case in so many King adaptations. I don't know why that is. I hadn't seen "Breaking Bad" yet, so I had no idea what a terrific actor Dean Norris really was. He certainly didn't show it in the Dome eps I saw. I suspect part of the problem is that the writers want to leave all their options open with Norris's character and his son, so the characters seem flat and with frustratingly opaque motivations.

Same. And I was especially annoyed that no one noticed the girl he kidnapped was missing. Not even her brother. I know folks probably had a lot on their minds but that was just ridiculous.

Never saw season 1. And since Netflix, Hulu, and even CBS themselves don't have it for streaming I guess I won't see season 2 either. But that's OK, Shogun comes out on BD soon.

Is this a troll article?  The show is seriously terrible, though at least it has a "so bad it's good" quality.  The priest was comedy gold, sucks that he died because the show got far less hilarious after that.

King is involved?  fark you I'm out.

Worst farking 'famous' author I've ever read, and that includes The 'sparklez the vampire chronicles'. At least she finished her Mary Sue soft porno.  King never finishes his novels. He leaves it with no resolution.

It's going on 4 seasons already, another one of my cheesy loves, Revolution, gets cancelled after two...

I tried to watch it and it all just seemed so farced with really stupid drama forced onto the viewer and asinine reactions to the drama. If common sense isn't a forte of the main characters, I see no reason to watch the show.

That's just my opinion, and I didn't like shows like Lost or Heroes (past season 1), so i am in the minority here, I know.

I'm curious how the Strain will be. The book series had some issues, such as boring lead scientist characters with dull personal problems, and the storyline kind of went off the rails in the last book. Hopefully, they can make some changes to make the TV version better.
