Well...the rumors are of course running rampant about Punk making a surprise return Sunday at Payback since it's in Chicago, perhaps having a role in Daniel Bryan's possible forfeiture of the WWE World title.

But don't hold your breath.

This means of course that he WILL come back, low blow DB, and join Evolution after sending Batista to the unemployment line with a GTS.

Book it. Done.

One thing about wrestling is very rarely do guys stay retired.

However, Punk is the exception, I think. I get the feeling he was smart with the money he made and he isn't the kind to blow it on coke.

I am in the minority that isn't a huge Punk fan, though. I mean, he is one of the more entertaining guys on the roster, and was solid in the ring, but I always found his promos to be kind of repetitive (minus the pipe bomb, which was incredible). I suppose that is more on the writing team than him, though.

I liked the Royal Rumble during the SES when he'd eliminate a wrestler, and pick up the mic and talk between entrants.

Fructose is more damaging than most controlled substances.  So why does a straight edge guy have a Pepsi tattoo?  Straight edge folks are dickless.

Still wish he'd come back.  The only person left on TV that can work a mic is Paul E. Dangerously.

Based on Michelle Beadle's side of things, Punk seems like a hyper-temperamental turbo douche sometimes.

For those who don't know, it went like this:

Michelle Beadle: (To CM Punk backstage) Hey, fark-face! (In a joking manner suggesting the two are friends)

CM Punk: [silent, angry brooding, HOW DARE SHE?!]

AJ Lee: HOW DARE YOU TALK TO MY BOYFRIEND THAT WAY?!

CM Punk: [Avoids eye contact, takes Michelle off his Christmas cards list]

That is probably the dumbest thing you can hold a grudge over. And the thing is, he's still holding it against her.

/I won't even get into how he buried Beth Phoenix on the radio, just because they broke up.

Yeah, I have heard stories from people that met him that said he was a total douchebag in person.

My friend (who wrestled with him in the Indies) said he was real nice to him, though.

I certainly want him back in WWE for selfish reasons, but he left a spectacular string of matches behind him I can watch whenever.  If he'd rather have sex with AJ and spend the rest of his day going to sports events and concerts after picking up comics and Blu-Rays, that's his prerogative.  And his bailing had a big hand in the delicious white flag from creative that was WrestleMania XXX vis-a-vis Bryan Danielson, so.

The hole in the show that his departure left is becoming more evident as we get further from Mania.  Bryan is out but still making appearances.  They really cant afford to lose any of their stars right now because there are so few guys that get legit reactions out of the crowd.  Hell, it is this exact situation that probably lead to Punk getting no time off to heal up and ultimately resulted in him quitting.

Based on every interview I have ever heard with him, the guy struggles with celebrity and respects THE BUSINESS.  He wouldnt overshadow the active guys like that.

I still really want to know what the backstage is like these days.  Who are the leaders?  Do they still even have leaders?  What is morale like?
