Pfft. If it doesn't know which end of the rifle the bullets come out of, it belongs in the Air Force.

I thought this was going to be the design. They rolled it out at Raytheon here in Utah in '10. Bonus: Agent Coulson suits up.

Seriously, I can see these things working out really well for loading ordnance on planes, which is one of the conceptual ideas...

Well I've seen this stuff being tried out years ago, it's not a new thing really. Just maybe improved. And far from iron man type stuff. Just wish I was still in the military and could try this stuff or see it in action when it finally gets fielded.

Land nav skills of a second lieutenant? Lol hope you are joking. As a junior enlisted marine i had to damn near hold my lieutenants hands during land nav excercises.

First IED in Iraq, the PL in his BFV turns and looks at his gunner and lets out a loud "WHAT DO WE DO!"

For those not in the military, here are the translations of the acronyms:

IED: Improvised Explosive Device
PL: Platoon Leader. Usually a Second Lieutenant.
BFV: Bradley Fighting Vehicle. A light armored Infantry transport vehicle that utilizes a track system. Some people misidentify them as tanks. They are most definitely NOT tanks.

So much this, and it is branch independent.

2LT Butterbar O'Freshmeat (while holding a hot mike):  "Ok, we go to 270 degrees here for two clicks"

Spc _creeper: "No sir, we can't go that way!"

2LT Butterbar O'Freshmeat (Saber 2): "You mouthing off to me Specialist?  You forget what this bar means?  You go that way now or I'll have you on charges!" (Throws mike in a childish tantrum)

CSM over the net (Saber Edge):  "SIR...That bar means he's been promoted three times more than you.  And he knows how to read a map and that 2 clicks at 270 put us well into the impact zone that you have been encroaching on for the last 7 clicks, which I might add is mid exercise.  WAIT ONE!"

CSM:  "Break! Break! All units hold in place. Break! Break! Victor 32, move forward to Saber 2.  _Creeper  will need a A-Driver, the BC wishes to conference with the O'Freshmeat Unit.  Break! Break! Saber 2 - _Creeper, when you have your new A-Driver, inform the elements and proceed to lead elements to the TA.  This is your last exercise with this unit as I understand it son, enjoy the moment! Saber Edge OUT!"

/LT turned out to be ok tho' beyond some issues with signs and maps.
