Next time I get the bright idea to make a Red October reference, I should just put it in a memo.

I want to know what sad, lonely and forgotten thing was making pings in that part of the ocean?

Do any of the articles state WHAT these pings were? That's one thing I'd like to know. This is the USN, right? You'd think they'd know WTF they're talking about, ping-wise.

I've had a few submissions in my time, and I'd say that a Star Wars quote is always an easy Green.

Why don't they just make the plane out of the ocean?

I bet they passed through the Thai patrols, past their floating garbage, and laid off their largest city, and listened to their gong chimes and khon shows... while they conducted emergency landing drills.

supposedly they were from the ship itself.

"the ping is coming from inside the house!"

So how much time and money has been wasted on this?  And who's paying for it?

This whole thing has been utterly ludicrous from the beginning.  In this day and age, there is really no excuse.  I don't care how big a search area you have.  You can't lose a plane that size.

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy.  But it's certainy starting to look that way.

I think it was turned into a missile and flown into the pentagon in 2001. There never  was a flight 370. That is why the media keeps showing stock video of random Asian people and claiming they are the families of victims.

The plane hit some turbulence and someone on board triggered with a high stranger rating. Like a 9+. It landed safely at its destination and no one has noticed.

If they would use trace route they would know the exact path to the plane.

/Have to think of everything around here
/NOT tracert though, that just shows you who is connected to a website

Nice, I was thinking of the classic Who 4-parter "Time-Flight" because CNN's coverage is the Time-Flight of journalism

That's actually plausable.  More so than the news we've been getting.

Do any major undersea cables transit near or within the "ping based" search area? Do the underwater taps we use ever ping? Or could it the source have been that british sub that went out to help search?

yeah. Sometimes we spend hours on a headline crafting just the right blend of information spiced with a hook and perhaps a  soupçon of irony all carefully and lovingly wrapped in interest and garnished in topicality.  Other times we open the can and dump that shiat right onto the plate.

I don't know, I think you could lose an airplane. The world is a big place. You turn off the stuff that tracks the plane, it's gone. Think of people, or even ships, lost in the ocean. Most of them are never found, never have a chance of being found. Why couldn't we lose a plane that is moving fast and could be anywhere? The only stipulation is that it can't be outside of the limits of its fuel supply. Make a circle, anywhere in the world. It's there.

wow, what a lot of concentration for something so meaningless. I quit submitting headlines years ago; it's completely passe. But I guess you're not really up to speed. It's OK--I mean, if it gives you a thrill. People do dumber things. I just don't know what.
