Can liposuction be a cure for someone on the verge of being blind?

I just don't see this being in the works.

Sadly this information comes too late to save Anne Frank.

One woman with a rare condition called optic neuritis says that liposuction not only helped her lose weight, stopped her from going blind.

Helped? They physically removed large amounts fat from her body, I'd say that counts as more than "helped".

I can see how liposuction would allow someone to see.

Or "I can imagine." Either one, really.

I know a girl who said she was getting a breast reduction for her back problems.

We all knew it was because she wanted to look thinner.

What she ended up with was a big fat ass and a flat chest.

Ye gods! How ugly must you be that your reflection is blinding you?

It was a combination of stem cells from the extracted fat and steroidal medication. She (if TFA is accurate) went from legally blind to regaining her eyesight in four days.

I'd say this is a pretty spiffy story, and the woman should be congratulated. From fat & blind to not as fat & regained eyesight in four days? High fives all around if this is true.

/but then again, it's the Daily Fail, so who knows...

Optic neuritis is a fairly common symptom of MS, and the steroids prescribed for MS do make you put on weight.  This is a fantastic idea, I hope it becomes common practice.

Since this is the Daily Fail I'm going with "No".

A lot of women have breast reductions because of back problems. It's more common than you think.

Subby, thanks for writing it out a second time in larger, blockier letters for those people who do have vision problems and could possibly be helped by this.  That was very considerate of you.

/Ha!  I deliberately didn't get the joke.  Hilarious!
