Or just wrap it in tinfoil so it can't read GPS signals.

I wonder if that would work.  Of course even if it can't read the GPS satellites it's still maintaining a connection to a base station isn't it?

Sounds like they did a pretty good job supervising his release. I mean; he only robbed and battered one other person. It's probably a personal best.

And he held up a Subway, pointed a loaded gun at someone, and walking the streets ? WTF ?
I can hear his lawyer now, "He had to smash her in the face, she refused to give up her jewelry, he's not really a bad kid"

Considering the headline I expected the idiot to have taken the GPS ankle bracelet off and left it in the house he invaded.

So I take it that the "monitoring" part of GPS monitoring is a little bit less than real-time monitoring.

intensive supervised release ? Did they mean passive unsupervised release?

Is he too dumb to realize what he has on his ankle or does he have that little self control to not be a fark up?

Sorry, did you think they had agents monitoring the signals live? "Johnson, come have a look at this. This man's bracelet just recorded a sudden jump to three feet in the air and a sudden thrust to the east. He's... he's kicking in someone's door! To the Bat Cave!"

That might work, but it will cause the unit to lose signal to the box they install in your house with a land line. It will notify them and cops will be at your door.

Trick is to do it several times on a random basis, but stay at home, so you're there every single time the cops call or show up. Then, when they've become complacent and reluctant to check up on you yet again, you can do what you want on a limited basis.

You don't need an actual Faraday cage, you just need to block the weak GPS satellite signals.

BTW, a GPS ankle bracelet doesn't necessarily report all the time. It wouldn't need to.

The "house arrest" type of bracelet just has to be within range of the monitoring device. No GPS capability is required.

GPS bracelets are meant to keep track of your whereabouts at all times, meaning you can leave the house. They may work by having he police download the data, or by periodically reporting via the cell network, but it's not the same kind of monitoring as the "house arrest" type of bracelet.

Wrapping a

Ha! They would just arrest me and charge me with violating probation. The redneck cops around these parts don't play around! I actually enjoyed house arrest. I had a valid reason to blow everyone off. I put in some serious gaming time and didn't have to do any yard work!
