I hate that DeNiro has turned into Pacino, saying yes to pretty much everything.

It doesn't take away from his ability, but it tarnishes his image for me, a little.

I still like him, but I don't "trust" him anymore.  I used to think "Hey, DeNiro is in this?  I trust it's good"

Then came Rocky & Bullwinkle.

/having said that, Pacino was the BEST part of Jack & Jill

As much as I HATE 'Twilight', Pattinson was actually really good as Dali in ;Little Ashes'.

Me too. But Charles Grodin might qualify as a shiatty actor.

Same. Charles Grodin is hilarious.

We already know he sold out years ago. YEARS! After being one of the most respected actors EVAR!

/I knew you'd be here to pile on DeNiro. Just like me.

Off the top of my head he himself hasn't done any quality acting in the last decade other than silver linings. He's been in tons of stinkers.

I've not see Robert Pattinson in very much (maybe only Cosmopolis) but he seems to do well as long as he is working opposite a talented actor.

Ahh, but which one saw Kristen Stewart's nips and which one didn't?

I spent the better part of a year fixing the Y2K bug at a former employer. I wouldn't mind so much, but then they laid me off afterwards, and they ended up going out of business within 6 years, so it's like it didn't matter anyway.

Sounds familiar. Outsourcing that wound up biting them in the ass?

Oh big farking deal. Patterson is a pretty solid actor (Twilight movies aside).  He was good in Cosmopolis. and hell, Cronenberg liked him enough hes having him star in his next film too.

If theres one person who might be able to survive from the twilight movies, its gonna be him. He made his paycheck, and now hes doing whatever he wants. Good for him.

Anna Kendrick?

As long as it's not like what happened when he worked with Gérard Depardieu. There isn't enough eye bleach.

No, that actually happened in 2000, subby. The new millennium started the following year.

Guess you didn't see the double handy she gave Tron Jr & some other shlub in "On The Road."

Deniro hasn't done anything interesting since '01 (The Score) and nothing really good since Ronin in '98. For years I've wondered why he even bothers to act...maybe it's to fund his hotel habit?

/got stuck watching Grudge Match on a plane. There should be laws against that.

DeNiro doesn't really act, he does schtick.

He's already worked with Kristen Stewart. So... why not call Anna Kendrick and make it a hat-trick..?

Step away from your torture-porn you philistines. Midnight Run is a classic and if you can't see that, then here come two words for you: shut the f*ck up.

No, actually.  It was cheap Asian goods.

I worked for a company that made lace and tricot mainly for lingerie manufacturers, but also for swimwear and sportswear.

We just couldn't compete price-wise with cheap lace from Asia.  When you pay your workers a union-guaranteed "living wage", that cost is built into the price of the goods you sell.  When your customers are able to buy the same stuff overseas for less money, or indeed, completely off-shore all their manufacturing from the yarn through greige goods through dyed fabric and into the finished product, there isn't much you can do.

Near the end, about 4 or 5 years after I left, they put out feelers to see if I was interested in coming back.  I told the person who asked "given the risk involved, I'd have to ask for more money than they can possibly afford to pay me".  Later that same year, the union representing the workers accepted a 40% across-the-board pay cut in order to try to save the company, but it was too late.

Kind of sad, really, because that business had been in operation for 100+ years at that point.

The main building and the two knitting mills are still empty.

On the other hand, my father was NAFTA'd out of a job:  Just a few years before his retirement, the medical device manufacturing plant where he worked as a tool and die guy got moved to Mexico.

Yes, but during the 70's, no one could tell the difference, because drugs.  That's how he earned his reputation.
