I have just transcribed every Pitbull song ever.

"What I don't like about the music is that it's a poor, dull, generic pop theme,"

it's a song for a football tournament.  what were you expecting, an epic 25 minute prog rock anthem referencing classic literature?

It's like no matter what you say to or do for those Mexican countries, they're going to run around the sombrero and complain about it. Who cares if that Pitviper and Jen Loopez are from different countries, you Mexicans need to all unite. If you're going to shiat out 20 children, you're going to have to do the jobs that real people don't want to do, and that includes making crappy, generic pop music and wiping your assholes with spinach.

2014-05-26 10:42:42 AM
Why didn't they use Brazilian artists? Not only they used non-Brazilians...they used un-talented American Hispanics.

JHo still has a booty that won't quit....but good God...Pitbull is awful. Looks like he is eschewing his gayness for a moment checking out JHo booty, in that photo

Thank god there are no breaks during halves in soccer games, is all I have to say about that.

Sugarloaf Mountain comes out of the sky?
In the court of the favela king?
Welcome back my friends, to the flops that never end?

Excellent job, sir or madam. Indeed, you have succeeded in your quest.

And I'm sure it's full of Pitbull's "rapping:"  switching to Spanish every time he can't think of a goddamned rhyme in English.  It's lyrical fail all wrapped up in sunglasses and a suit.

They couldn't afford to hire that many artists.

Probably recorded on a label owned by Disney which will be overhyped by ESPN during their coverage.

Yes it is, but I like Shakira.

The Pitbull/JLo song is just unremarkable. It's as bland and generic as pre-chewed potato paste. Pitbull was unoffensive and completely uninteresting, but I turned it off when JLo started...doing whatever the fark that was. It wasn't singing, it wasn't rapping, it was just god awful.

Cup of Life by Ricky Martin was actually quite good. A masterpiece, compared to this crap.

Oddly enough the majority of people in Latin America people love the bland and generic as well as reggaeton and over produced pop. Everyone still loves Air Supply and Lionel Richie.

Shakira had nothing to do with Africa, but she is nice to look at and can dance so people liked it.

Other than Colombia sharing a border with Brazil she really has nothing to do with Brazil either.  I just listened to the La La La song and it was more of the same for her.  At least she has stopped pretending to be the latin american Alanis Morrisette.

While the song may be crappy, it will be blaring out of cabs, candystands, crappy radios, and in nightclubs all over latin america.

Sure, I would like to hear Seu Jorge do a Bowie cover for it, but the majority of people want something they can get up and dance to.

FloridaFarkTag: Why didn't they use Brazilian artists? Not only they used non-Brazilians...they used un-talented American Hispanics.

Probably because they've never used "artists from the home country".

Shakira was for South Africa 2010
Ricky Martin was for France 1998
Anastasia was for Japan/Korea 2002

Going by the trend, they just like using hispanics/latinos because they have more salsa.

For the next couple of installments, I suggest:

Daft Punk -- 2018 Russia

Miley Cyrus -- 2022 Qatar United States

It's a work for hire so they don't have to figure out what royalties are owed.

Going to leave people nostalgic for the vuvuzeala.

At what point do those two stop working on collaborations and start becoming a singing group? I think if you put all their songs together you get at least a David Lee Roth length album.

That person went on to say "In the end, we lost a chance to do something rich, inspiring and cool. I'm feeling (painful longing) for Shakira."

Yes, Shakira. Go ahead, take a moment and let that sink in.

This is the first time I have heard this. Goodness gracious it's really awful isn't it?
And they are going to play it when every first half ends during the World Cup? A curse on those sorry bastards for that.
I figure it's just another FIFA payola deal where Lopez and the idiot rapper's record label bribed FIFA to make it their "anthem". Because nobody but nobody would ever choose a piece of utter mediocrity like this if there wasn't some shenanigans going on.

Say what you want about Pitbull, but he at least has the decency to say his name at the start of every song so you can change the station.

waka waka is fun and upbeat and she sings it well.  lot of range, no stress in her voice.
and, it has traditional african instruments and melodies/style too.  wins!

however, her new single is perhaps the worst song i've ever heard.
the whole tune written so that she can say what the vapid kids are saying .. "and i'm like..."  no.

Are you talking about her new World Cup song?  I didn't hear any "I'm like"s in it.  (Not my type of music, but she is pleasing to the eye.)

I'm just happy there aren't many commercials in WC.

The song is originally from Cameroon, no where near south Africa.  The south Africans were not thrilled with it.

They should have just taken one of the songs from Rio 2.  Jesse Eisenberg is likely a better performer than Pitbull.
