Yeah, duplicating the photo in the background definitely sets off the creepy meter a bit.

It's the Daily Fail. Seeing them shut down their shiat rag and not have all their stories greenlit everyday on Fark would restore my little faith in humanity

It's a heartwarming story of a True Patriot standing his ground against foreigners.

This cop is just trying to make Real Americans look bad.

People thinking humanity can't get any worse are part of the problem. Try thinking positively and doing something about it.  Oh, but that takes effort. It's so much easier to claim it's all humanity's fault and let your world crash around you.

Subways are dangerous.

Humanity is, at best, individual incidents of politeness or generosity in a sea of selfish survival instinct and mind-numbing stupidity. As a species we are violent, arrogant, self-centered, and given just enough self awareness and higher reasoning capabilities as to be dangerous.

We advanced in civilization status simply because we spent a great deal of time figuring out how to get more shiat or kill people better, and no thing was ever done completely altruistically by anyone, and every discovered that has improved mankind has come as a response to struggle or strife.

No, I don't think anything can restore my faith in humanity. Right now, the best we can do is to do the best we can for each other and stay the hell out of the way of the juggernaut.

2014-05-26 04:18:54 PM
My faith in humanity is just fine, thanks - and if it needed restoration, I wouldn't be seeking it here.

Good for them, nice guy and it gives the family a chance to survive for a while while they deal with the situation.  Too bad that the (dead) guy didn't have any insurance, but from the story, he couldn't afford it (if they can get some, you'd think that at least the place he worked for might have something?).

I can somewhat relate as I've just been through cancer surgery, so all the fears about something bad happening, as I do have an autistic child who's no longer a kid, but still requires to be looked after, and my wife who has MS... and the other kids that while finally reaching adulthood, still have ways to go before they're ready for the responsibilities as they're still in school and such.

Sadly, I do have a "let's lose faith in humanity" part is this, in the fact that after having a falling out with one of the kids, another one of my daughters, due to her attitude for the last couple of years, where she just kept doing one bad thing after another, which included getting a boyfriend that's ..well... let's just say that it's a long story.

So the thing is, he was in a situation that wasn't really all that great, and we decided to let him in and stay with us for several months to give him a chance at getting his live together.

Sadly, things just kept getting stupid with their attitude... me pushing them to fix their (his mostly) things, work harder, get financially somewhat stable (as he was in up to his neck, though he never understood it), and work on their education and get their arse together and do something worthwhile with their lives, go to school, etc.so that they can have a decent life.

But ego stepped in and they turned into asses more and more, being really nasty with everyone in the house, me stuck trying to make peace or just having to biatch them out for their immaturity and attitude.  It's always: "they" deserved everything, they "did everything", and never did "anything" wrong.

They ended up throwing themselves out after doing something stupid yet again.

They left playing the whole "they are the victim" card and were just nasty in every way.

So this is all happening as I find out about my cancer, and they leave before my surgery.

I get it done, have been recuperating since... no word from them until someone sees them and have a discussion.  The person is pissed at their attitude, let's them know, and is told that he (the boyfriend) wished that I would have died on the table.

On a good note, the food bill has dropped to 1/3, even 1/4 of what it used to be, even if they ranted about how they never ate that much. (heck I had to charge them some room and board otherwise I would have ended up in serious financial difficulties, and still I was going under bit by bit).

She's out of the will now, as all I keep getting the feeling was that they just wanted for me and my wife to die to get everything and screw all the other kids.

Anyways... end of rant...
