Is it because the headline is stupid since that line is from instant coffee and had no need for a coffee machine?

And that's where you would be wrong. It was for all Maxwell House, regular and instant coffee.

It's a good thing that machine didn't explode and send shrapnel into his corpse. Then his loved ones would have to choose between capitated and decapitated.
