70 years-old?  He probably had a stroke or heart attack brought on by the exertion.

That reporter sure had the squinty-eyed bobble head act down, didn't he?  Reminded me of Will Ferrall's GWB impersonation.

It's the middle of the night, I'm having trouble seeing... better squint.

Swimming is a lot harder than it seems, especially if you are trying to go somewhere or carry something/someone.

I know of some kids that drowned trying to swim across a pretty small section of lake because they thought that it would be easy to swim a couple hundred yards.

Learn how to do a dead mans float if you're going to be swimming over your head. It will let you keep your head above water without treading water and consuming energy.

It won't load on my phone but I'm just going to say that I can understand. My chihuahua fell into a pond chasing something (probably a fly because he's a stone cold killer like that) and I freaked out before I clued in that he was swimming around just fine. Dogs do just fine in the water since they seem to know their limits better than most people.

Why is it that when people jump into the water to save their pet, they always end up dead and the pet always survives?

My dog is afraid of water.

How smart can you possibly be if you don't know that most of the animal kingdom can swim innately, and that humans are the exception that drown.

Because it only makes the news when someone dies.

70 years old? Good riddance. Dogs haven't survived this long by being stupid. On my boat, had a dog, he fell off the side, we just leaned over a little bit to get him out of the water. Not a big dog by any means. Plus, we were a couple miles out, so he really didn't have a choice on where to go. I don't understand a lot of people going to such great lengths for their dogs. The way I was raised, it was more of a "Fark it, we'll get another dog". Kinda like Dr. Evil in Austin Powers, moving on, after a period of grieving. No don't get me wrong, I like my dog, but in the end, well... I love my cars and motorcycles more than my dog.

The pet ALLWAYS survives. To be fair, I'd jump into a river to save my guinea pigs. But that's because they tend to drown quickly, due to their fat tummies that cause them to float belly up and head underwater, like old fashioned life jackets used to do.

I wonder if any gators got a taste of him?  Lots of gators in that lake.

What idiot takes his dog out on a boat anyway?  What do you do when the dog wants to cop a squat?

Oh, the dog knows where the steak is, or he wouldn't have gotten rid of the old guy.

Regardless, a guy who wouldn't jump in to save his dog shouldn't be a dog owner.

Except the dog didn't really need saving.

So the Mariner from Waterworld can't be a reality? Damn!
