The $1 million fellowship will be open to anyone aged 20 to 36, and will go to up to 10 groups of young Jews from around the world seeking to promote human welfare based on Jewish values.

Does anyone mean something different in Hebrew?

What are Jewish values, and why would you want to promote them?

Bloomberg had pledged in December to contribute the Genesis Prize money toward promoting Israeli-Palestinian economic collaboration, but at the news conference the billionaire businessman said he deferred to the recommendation of the Genesis Philanthropy group in changing his decision.

so he didn't really decide where the money is going. this is sort of like getting an honorary degree. it doesn't mean shiat in the long run. or the short.

Bloomberg can kiss my ass with his stop and frisk shiat. he and Ray Kelly should have been run out of town years ago.

I don't think the Times of Israel publishes in Hebrew.

Pretty confusing sentence, though, I agree.  It does go on to say later that it is available to non-Jews if they are promoting "Jewish values."

Very "eye-of-the-beholder" sounding

FTFAAsked to explain what he means by Jewish values, Bloomberg said, "To me, Jewish values are a family, honesty, taking care of others, which I guess you'd call philanthropic.

Ah, well I weren't the only one who wondered.

Family, honesty and taking care of others is of course a unique Jewish trait. ;)

Yeah, that was also covered in TFA

"no one religion has a lock on great people or terrible people. Unfortunately, there's a spectrum in both cases." Bloomberg was optimistic, though, saying that "values I learned from my parents are the same values I hope Christians and Muslims and Buddhists learn from their parents."

So, he links those values to religion.

Got it.

To be fair, I've met more people who do the right thing out of fear of consequences than did it because it's the right thing. Then again, Civilization is just another form of "Mutually Assured Destruction". We observe laws and better ourselves not because it's right, but because the alternatives are less attractive. In modern society, we've replaced the role of Religion with government and laws.

That makes no sense. You can't even call that shiat malapropism. He's a genius of idiocy. Putting "unfortunately" in front of it really sends it to a new level that I've never encountered. And I read Fark threads.

Well it's about farking time you got something.

I was beginning to think I was going to have to explain TFA to you word by word.

You're trying too hard to find something wrong with what he said.

No, I'm pointing out all the moronic things he said.

If the Jewish state is any indication, they are nothing good.

Between the apartheid, race supremacism, disproportionate retaliation for any attacks, deliberate killing of innocents, and making a terrorist their prime minister, I'd say that any award based on their values means you're pretty much a monster.
