Thank goodness I looked at the sports queue before I submitted any of these. Looks like someone got all 3 race threads this year.

It wasn't mine, but this was the same idea I was having, except I'd have ended with, "This ain't the NASCAR thread, this is the Indy 500 thread."

BTW I am semi-drunk and feel it is as good time as any to try to construct a logo for today's festivities.  Something combining all three races, but I have no clue what humorous F1 photo to use.

I predict Kurt Busch won't make it past the first lap of the Indy 500

Out of confusion, Brian France will fine Jim Nabors 50 owner points.

The money's on Marco, which wouldn't disappoint. I'm rooting for Hinchtown. Of course TK would be a thrill to repeat. I don't see Kurt driving more than 7 or 8 hundred miles today. Assuming he isn't hurt, he'll have plenty of cool down time in Charlotte before the race.

That Kanaan medallion story was actually quite nice.

2014-05-25 11:31:31 AM
Your winner is Tony K.  Book it, done.

2014-05-25 11:32:38 AM
So yeah, that promo wasn't tasteless at all.  O_o  WTF?

Who's the favorite this year? Anybody way ahead of the field?

Clownshoes. Clownshoes everywhere...

Vegas odds have Marco as favorite.

I'd say Dixon or Kanaan....it's been a more wide-open season than usual, but Ganassi Racing seems to have the smallest pair of clownshoes.  In 500 miles, that will be the deciding factor I think.

Like I said I'd be OK with Marco, but the specs and talent are so damn close now there's a dozen favorites. Right place, right time. You want to be 2nd or 3rd going into turn 1 on 199.

There will be Lap 1 clusterfarkery, count on it.

I love the Indy 500, all of the pageantry and tradition

Scattered boos for the Russian driver

Nobody knows how to react to Busch

Big cheers for JPM

Juan Pablo Montoya will be driving like he is chasing after a man with 6 fingers.

EPIC RACE DAY!   YES!  This is the one day of the year I must watch racing...  and I watch it all day long.  Love it.  And the Tony K medallion story was very cool.  Rooting for Tony today.  And also Busch, for doing the double-duty racing.

Looks like they went to Dollar General for those chairs.  Classy.

I just want to see them try to do all the celebratory obligations and still get him out of there in time to make it to Charlotte for the 600.

I hope this race is clean and weather free. I'll need a nap before the 600.

If she runs like she ran at Kansas and has been doing so far this weekend, I look forward to the amount of gnashing that will come from the haters if she wins.

/not so much the media frenzy that will come from such a thing

I gotta admit, that would rock my day. This morning was fun, but Lewis' face just got a whole lot more slapable.

Yeah she seems to have figured out 1.5 mile tracks, just in time too.

heh what got me about Monaco was that there were only 4 cars on the lead lap at the end, can't remember the last time that happened in an F1 race. And that fourth car was nowhere near the front three.

That takes all the fun out of it. I wanted to see them try to get him to drink the milk while kissing the bricks and then him sprint to a waiting helicopter in the infield all set to Benny Hill music.

All Right race 2 of the day, I'm ready for the lap 1 wreck and ensuing Restart Chaos, then I think I will go replace the pads and rotors on my car after flogging it on  Road Atlanta a Couple of weeks ago.

2005 USGP, due to a tire fiasco (20 cars qualified, only 6 actually raced, the other 14 withdrew right after the parade lap).

Marco may be the Vegas favorite, but I've got a dollar on Will Power. He's been as focused as I've seen him before.

Rooting for Kurt to get a top 5 but not win. That'd give him enough of a reason to come back next year.

I know she's been crediting Harvick with helping her, but I wonder how much of it is also someone over at SHR saying, "Congratulations. You have unlocked better equipment."

Certainly puts some of her other finishes in a different light when you consider that.

If the phrase "tacky prayer" did not exist, it would be necessary to invent it.

Let's not call that an actual race shall we? Let's call it a fiasco.

I've said it before, but being part of the rifle team at Army funerals was one of the best things I ever did during my days as an enlisted man.

Nah, Saavedra's in the back, so unless he pops a 180 and goes full retard, we should make it to lap...3.
