In other news, NPR could not find the funk for love nor money.

If played by Neil Peart, it's called "unnecessary".

If it's not the Amen break, it doesn't matter.

4/5, missed the Beck one, it's not like that 2002 album was known particularly well, or known for its drums.

Too many notes.

I think you'd have to know the song in order to name the fill.

E.S.Q.: If it's not the Amen break, it doesn't matter.

Last I heard the one from "Funky Drummer" predated the Amen Break.

wipeout?

1/5...only because I recognized the drum fill that did not belong on "McCartney" or "Magical Mystery Tour".

1/5 because every question was a complete guess. I've heard exactly one (Shock the Monkey) of those songs.

Now, any classic rock that still gets radio play, or a Metallica, Maiden, Megadeth, Motorhead quiz, I will totally nail.

2/5 which amazingly coincided with the number of songs that you could hear multiple instruments and not just the drums.

This.  Like I'd be able to identify an Adrian Belew song, let alone the drum roll from it.

Drummer here.  Got 3/5 but they were all complete guesses.  I'm not very hip.

Anyway, list fails without the single greatest drumbreak EVAR:  (Buddy Rich agrees)

4/5. Missed the Bowie. Guessed most of the others by listening for the production values in the clips and got shiat lucky.

Holy shiat, it's my former co-worker, Michael Lerner!  Worked with him at Silver Platters, a music store in Seattle, until he was accepted at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.  Brilliant kid, glad to see he's doing well.

/Seattleites may know his dad, radio deejay Mike West, as in Crow and West.
