They were never mean't to be good.

They're good people though.

GWAR/Misfits 99 or so was the best show ever.

So much blood.

I'll take your word for it, it's just never been my thing. It's all too rocky horror picture show for me.

Amen to all of this.  I was at the show at the 9:30 Club when they filmed the crowd shots for Dawn of the Day of the Night of the Penguin.  It remains one of the best concert experiences I've ever had.  I also nearly had the cops called on me after a show in the late 90's when we were driving back to Charlottesville from a show in D.C., and we stopped for snacks at a 7-11 in Gainsville.  We'd forgotten we were covered in fake blood....

That's all part of the act. They're perfectly normal people off stage.

The Gwar/Misfits oddities were like seeing a Mr. Bungle show... It was all about the shock and fake blood and other fake bodily fluids.

Fun. More fun than anything else.

They need to put their stage props in the bar.  Patrons should expect to get sprayed with fake blood and semen.

I used to have a 3' styrofoam and paper-mache bone that I lifted from a GWAR concert in the 80s.

The stuff I listened to ... they were very good musicians. The vocals were the worst part for me. The production and
playing on America Must be Destroyed, in particular, stands out to me. Granted I stopped listening to them when I bought Ragnarok.
(and promptly smashed it after one listen)

Not bad. Maybe I should give it another chance. I think it was the Sleazy P. Martini rap song that put me over the edge.
I know it was all in the name of comedy but I hated it.

Wharghoul and Stalin's Organs are both great songs from Ragnarok. We Kill Everything? ...that's a terrible album.

Beyond Hell is also an amazing album as well. They were always good musicians imo, but they got better over the years, and Dave had drastically improved as a vocalist.

I am really hoping I can make it to Gwarbq, and see the viking funeral of Oderus.

Really?  I thought it was hilarious.  Not really a great song, but the joke of it was enough to hold up through repeated listening for me.  It helped that all his little moments from the movies sort of come to mind for me listening to it.  His gun battle vs the CIA agent when they go up against the Morality Squad is one of my favorite things ever in anything.  The cigarette drop at the end just sells it.

I am quite serious when I say this...

I felt Dave's presence today just a few hours ago. I was in the bathroom, and I suddenly just became aware of his presence.

This happens to me all the time at random times - ever since my Grandma died... I got really curious about life after death, ghosts, out of body experiences, etc... The more you focus on it, the more you open your mind to it. Once you really open your mind to it, you open a doorway of perception for contact. When you're not ready for it, they won't make themselves known... That's why most people are oblivious to "ghosts". You don't need EVP gizmos or other gadgets... Anyone can be a channel/medium with an open mind and focus.

When I saw this GWAR post, obviously I got some goosebumps... Now I know why he contacted me...

Fuk'n A, Dave... Fuk'n A...

Probably why I liked them so much when I was a teen.

Okay, would you go to a GWAR concert every week if it was always in town? No. It's a bad bar concept in a residential area. Hell, Geiger Bars all failed to remain in business.

Now, as a traveling bar night idea, it might work.

But not if they love the band, and not if they're not going too terribly heavy on the theme.  (I didn't watch the video.) If your local bar is an Irish bar, sometimes you just go there anyway.  Not because you're infatuated with Irish culture, but because the bar's right there.

If they're doing it like so many athletes and entertainers because they're slipping into a secondary career phase, and they fantasize about owning a place to eat/drink/hang, they will be out of business in less than 3 years.  Someone had better watch the books.

I remember reading that Balsac is a hug foodie, and is a bartender. So this kind of this is right up his ally, and probably a dream of his, because of his passion of drinking and eating.
