Well it's not uncommon for Irish to make poor financial decisions

Amazing how Charlie Weis turned out to be not such a genius when he didn't have access to a spying program the NSA is impressed b y.

Who recruited the bulk of that 12-0 Alabama-cannon fodder?  I'm going to guess Charlie "God I love my agent and food" Weis.

Also:  It's just amazing that in a year in which Brian Kelly went 12-1 and had a chance to win a national title...

Yeah, they were so in that game.  It was THAT close.

Notre Dame's highest paid official should be the guy or gal who schedules 12 games a year against high school junior varsity teams, which then gets the school a multi-million dollar BCS game.

College football.  Not even once.

Big deal.

The NY Mets two highest-paid outfielders as of last season were Jason Bay and Bobby Bonilla.

Neither of whom played for the Mets anymore, and one of whom has been retired for many years.

Wait, wait, wait. You're also telling me an offensive coordinator became less effective when Tom Brady was no longer his quarterback?

What's next? Claiming Romeo Crennel won't be as good of a defensive coordinator without being on Bill Belichick's staff?

2014-05-22 02:27:57 PM
Charlie Weis is living proof that a good coordinatior does not automatically make a good head coach.

Then again, so are a bunch of guys who have made big money sucking as coaches at the NFL level.

I'm sorry but the racist nickname of this team has me so offended I just can't get upset over this.

Isn't this a repeat of maybe last year?

Did they pay him by weight?

2014-05-22 03:14:00 PM
Now that's a decided contractual advantage

Weis has a better agent. Maybe Kelly should hire him.

If you're going to snark, at least do it correctly: the nickname isn't racist.  Go with the catch-all "insensitive" next time.

So it's now news that Charlie Weiss was overpaid?

Really?

Slow news day mod-mitters?

so the irish had an imaginary girlfriend highest paid coach? what's the big deal, doesn't everyone in south bend?

i liked Belichick's comments about drafting Garappolo early because you don't want to be "late"

because the day Brady stops playing is the day Bill retires

That could be the dumbest comment of the day.

http://www.fbschedules.com/2013/01/final-2012-college-football-stren gt h-of-schedule-rankings/

Check their schedule this year and tell me what team would trade their schedule with ND's.

But man that was a dumb comment.  Hopefully you got all your dumb out of the way in that one comment so you can have a relatively smart day of posting.

Honestly, couldn't tell.  I hear people say that crap all the time, and they really believe it. It's the Poe's Law of sports.  He could be a troll or her could just be that stupid.  Can't tell.  There are a lot of dumb fans out there.

I agree with you on Arkansas.  The SEC schedulers really had it out for them this year.  Bama, Georgia, and LSU?  Damn.  Did a couple of Arkansas grads run over the scheduler's dog? That schedule seems to be made with active malice in mind.  Ditto Tennessee.

Virginia and ND's line up closer. I would trade ND's for Virginia's, I think.  But either way, ND's schedule is top 10, no question, and the argument is there for top 5.

FTA: It's just amazing that in a year in which Brian Kelly went 12-1 and had a chance to win a national title he made less money from Notre Dame than Charlie Weis did while going 1-11 at Kansas (and let's not forget that Kansas paid $2.5 million that same year).

Oh, my s**t. :-(

Well, Arkansas is in the SEC West, so they play Bama and LSU every year.  Sure, you'd rather have Kentucky than UGA, but it could've been worse.  At least it wasn't Mizzou or Vandy.

Our local radio guys refer to Weiss as "Front butt."  Because he's so fat (How fat IS he???) that he looks like he's got a butt where his penis should be.

Front Butt < Dick Butt, though...
