Same way that I'm confused by Fox airing Cosmos.  That's why I watch the re-runs on NatGeo on Mondays.

/pre Sunday night Cosmos thread?

Same thing. Owned by the same company.

Fox News science articles are actually pretty solid.

Okay, if you know that, why avoid watching it on Fox proper? Your post implied that you do so because of Fox's (well, Fox News, at least) known anti-science bias.

People need to remember that, above all, Rupert Murdoch loves to make money. He'll back anything that makes him money. He's a raging douche, yes, but it's Roger Ailes that's behind the rampant derp machine that is Fox News. FN makes him tons of money because conservatives are easy to fleece. See also: Glenn Beck, et al

Just because it's "Fox" doesn't mean it's part of the derp machine. That machine serves its purpose. The other arms server their purposes. He has no need to conflate them.

I DVR the ones on NatGeo - higher quality commercials, not as many on-screen popups/corner bugs, etc

You DVR a show and still watch the commercials?

It's still Fox...not once was a date mentioned (like, stars last x billion years, this big star was y billions of years old, etc).

Probably a champagne supernova would be involved.

The radio (not IR, since there is no box in the bedroom) based remote for our DishTV system has issues connecting from our bedroom to the receiver out in the living room.  Takes a lot of work to get something to start playing, too much work to go thru skipping commercials for the most part.  Sometimes I get lucky and the 30-second-skip button works, sometimes not so much...

You're upset a "date" wasn't mentioned?  And this "date", would add what to your understanding of the article?  Alright then, you turn the star over and the date is on the bottom.

Actually, not a bad article.  Anytime they go to Alex Filippenko for a comment, we might just learn something.
