Let me guess: you could only get the advanced certification if you took all six of his classes, but he wandered away after five.

He never could keep up with the syllabus. You'd end up talking to your friends taking the same class at the community college to get the last two lessons.

Editor:  I want f*cking anything that I can slap Game of Thrones on.  Do you have any idea the clicks people are getting with this sh*t?

Slaves2Darkness: Too bad he has brain cancer.

But fortunately all the books are done and under lock and key at his publisher, so their release can be synchronized with the show.

You know its true, because some guy at Baskin Robbins told my cousins best friend.

I heard he has the books done but is traveling around the world burying lost chapters as part of an elaborate scavenger hunt.

FTFA: Even as Martin, 65, has become the Tolkien of the 21st century,

1.  He's pretty farking far from Tolkien.
2.  His actual good stuff was written in the 20th century.

The Tolkien of the 21st century should be no older than 14 now and likely not a writer yet.

I'm not at all surprised to hear he's a lapsed Catholic, given the depiction of the Andals' religion (veneration of the "Seven") in the series.

"..I must eat the succulent pheasant, with a crispy, caramelized skin slathered in a barley gravy that enhances the gamy flavor.  Then a trencher of rice is brought forth, hosting a vast array of roast vegetables, with Dornan spice and tubers  native only to the neck."

1. Tolkien wasn't that great of a writer.  Storyteller, yes.  Writer, no.  Martin is a much better writer, but he is similar to Tolkien in that he has too many characters and too many superfluous story lines.
2. Completely agree...the last two books should have been half as long and combined back together.
